4-6 more like it !!

Agreed. Three weeks seems a little light given the act -- "careless" seems a generous grading to me.

Can’t argue with that. It was all of the above; careless, high contact and had a severe impact.

Not sure how North challenge on any of these.

So how did Kossie also get three? Moore’s late second flopping contributed to his high hit and from memory didn’t miss a match? Sparrow went for the ball and got knocked out from a trailing stiff armed coat hanger dished out in heavy traffic! And will miss games but somehow these are equivalent transgressions? Sorry this was a 4 to 6 week brain fade.

Agree EH I thought minimum 4 weeks it was all so unnecessary Xerri just couldn’t help himself, no doubt he regrets it but the damage is done and there is no comparison to Kozzie sliding into Moore. 3 weeks just isn’t enough.

Funny how the only player to come into the side when TMac was dropped was Lever.

Funny how when Lever was dropped Howes took his role.

Um yep but if it were Kozzy try 6/8

how good is it to finally have a replay that you can actually watch and see how hard we scrapped in the first half to stay in it then slowly wore them down and finally opened up a decent gap on them. So good to see all our senior players so determined and hard at it led by Max, Tracc, Jack, Clayton, Salo, Ed, Fritta, TMac and Milkshake Closely supported by our younger brigade and kids who played their hearts out, Bowey, Chin, Riv, McVee, Disco and then Rooey, Harvey, XL and finally Matty. We need to keep playing Kolt and Windsor as they will be part of our future and somehow get Blake Howes into the side. Rick isn’t back to his best but showing promising signs. Our conundrum is how do we keep TMac in when May is ready and how do we keep Matty in when Petty is right and who comes out for Howes and How Bloody good is Harvey ( love this kid), he has class and leadership written all over him did everyone notice how he Ushered Max away from the action and then beckoned the other players to move over towards Spaz.

I've been one of many on Fritta's back and justified with his efforts in the past few games but yesterday he got a bit of his mojo back playing up the ground and back which suits him. Played a very good, selfless game and a credit to him.

I agree, I'd still like to see him get out of a jog more often but it was a better effort

I wish I had thought of that. A very good description. He doesn't look like an Aussie rules player.

I reckon I saw Buddy like movements fleetingly on Sunday. We'll see.

What happened to protecting the head?

3 weeks for knocking a player out coat hanger style.

I immediately thought 5-6 weeks.

The optics look terrible here!

Just watching the replay and Xerri did the same thing to Jefferson in the last (1h:55 into the replay). Same swinging arm. Less impact.

There should be extra weeks because he had form.

Thats also the problem when the umps don't pay a free to Jefferson. He thinks he can get away with it.

Not sure what replay you access. What was on the clock in Q4 at the time?

9:32 to go in the 4th qtr, boundary throw in just after the Kolt scrap in the fwd pocket

I would check your meds if you see any resemblance between Jefferson and Buddy.

I was just watching the Replay of the North game.

In the second quarter, Xerri swung a forearm into Xavier Lindsay’s head, knocking him over with a glancing blow. Very similar to the Sparrow incident, but luckily ( for him and X),with no serious consequences.

The fact that he’s done it twice in one game shows that it’s more than just an unfortunate incident. He’s aggressive and clumsy.

He also put Max down behind play a couple of times. Didn't see the incidents only the aftermath so can't talk to the severity although one led to a free kick with Maxy kicking the goal

So Xerri has put Max down a couple of times, hit Jefferson with a forearm to the head, hit Lindsay in the head and Concussed Sparrow.

When the [censored] does the AFL hit this guy with some serious sanctions.

It doesn't. It's a joke, well it would be.

Just once I love our club to amble up to AFL house , rap on the doors with a Please Explain.

Then spread out all the inconsistencies. Esp as applies to us.

Never happen of course but I honestly don't know why we wouldn't/shouldn't. What are they going to do ?

If it was bloody Danger, or someone from North or one of the Bobbsy Twins, it would be splashed all over the Maggot Media.

Cam Mooney wouldn't be saying it was just an unavoidable brush past in the game.

North have challenged Xerri's ban

So would I. The three week penalty suggests a lack of certainty in the mind of the MRO/AFL. It should be either a 5-6 week penalty because it was a reckless action or nothing because it was an unfortunate footy accident. Three weeks smacks of a compromise trying to please all parties and effectively pleasing no-one.

I suspect the appeal will be successful.

Compromise or an opening of a door

Why not just bring Petty or May in to replace Lever. Disco is settling in well down back and IMO needs to be left there.

JVR, Jeffo, Melk and Fritsch playing HHF like yesterday should be how we structure up with a rotating mid Kossie/Trac/Viney and Wing rotation Langford/Chandler/Langdon is how we should look to go IMO with someone having to come in for Sparrow

Yep, total no brainer.

And petts Is surely ultimately going back to replace Lever and May when they retire.

Peter Hudson also look unfashionable at times, especially his "flat punt" strategy for dominating the ff position.

Xerri cops his rightful punishment.

Can't believe North Melbourne challenged it.

And credit whete it's due - the tribunal slapped them down quick smart.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
