May loses a contest against Horne-Francis, runs underneath the ball and Max has to make a dangerous tackle.

May then lets Burgoyne mark uncontested 15m out. 🤦

Petty must be a catholic, hasn't touched the pill!

Ha.

He was on the bench for a bit and it improved things.

Let's just let Roo have a decent time fwd without Petty and see what happens.

People still think Langford needs to be managed?

10 touches at 90%

he is pretty much our best mid already

How was it a brain fade? It was a great tackle

all he had to do was push him over the line.... but no gives away the obvious free

From this point on we just have to assume umps will cost us 3-4 goals a game.

Just to make sure we miss the 8 so we can't end the season of one or more of their preferred teams

If that’s in the back I want to see them pay it the other way. Giorgiadis flopped in an effort to get the ball over the line. Absolute joke

They paid Dangerous tackle, still a B/S free.

Honestly the backline and midfield are killing us with their revolting lack of defensive intent.

May needs a bake. Shades of quarter one versus Saints.

Petty must have the same magnetic polarity as the ball. Every time he gets near the near the ball it repels away from him.

We are not losing because of the umpires.

Reasons?

Melksham brain fade = 50m penalty = goal.

Bowey brain fade = goal.

Delivery into forward line = hopeful long bombs galore.

would be good to see one of forwards lead towards the ball carrier for a chnage

Yep no movement in the F50 so ball carriers are just kicking long to defenders and it looks like we are really missing a defensive small to stop them cleaning the loose ball up so easily in our full forward line.

Port player opts to kick a dribbler out of defense obviously curling towards the boundary line instead of a drop punt and the brain rot commentary club have the gall to act like it was a legitimate pass attempt.

That’s even WORSE! What the [censored] was dangerous about that? He didn’t turn him or slam him down. What a stupid stupid interpretation!

Just about to cheer that we finally got a junk time goal, only to give up another junk time goal. Due to a brain fade. Not the best tackle. Max should know better, even if it was a bit soft

Anyway, positives are that we started well and Roo can’t get a much better boost to his confidence than that, he should use that to kick a bag, and drive a win for us. We can win this but got to stay sharp, and no more gifts.

6 marks inside 50 to port that quarter is awful. Essendon gave up 22 marks inside 50 to Geelong last night. We are on track for that if we don't lift defensively

Petracca just the 2 disposals. Needs to lift.

Lever ...

Dead set liability. Too lazy to defend so instead just wants to guard space. Dropping McDonald for him was a massive mistake .

Always the late goal in red time. So poorly coached

13-2 clearances

what’s the point if we give it away every time.

they just sit back and mark the shanks

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
