Laughable.

Jason Taylor: "Duties include Managing the National/International Recruiting and Talent Identification programs, member of the List Management Committee ..."

Laughable if you think Taylor recruits players from other clubs

Don’t know if this has had a run anywhere else:

Riley Beveridge says Fritsch going nowhere, he and club both want him to stay next year. Josh Gabelich says the same thing about Lever.

With the form McDonald is in he deserves another contract.

B: Turner, May, McVee

HB: Salem, McDonald, Rivers

C: Culley (a), Petracca, Langford

HF: Bowey, Petty, Chandler

F: Fritsch, Kentfield (a), Melksham

FOLL: Gawn, Viney, Pickett

IC: Lindsay, Windsor, Langdon, Oliver

SUB: Howes

Casey

B: Lever, Adams, Berry (b)

HB: Sestan (a), Derksen, Moniz-Wakefield (a)

C: Sinemma, Laurie, Sharp

HF: Mentha (b), Johnson, Henderson (a)

F: McAdam, van Rooyen, Jefferson

FOLL: Campbell, Tholstrup, Sparrow

IC: Verrall (a), White, 2nd rounder

initially i was thinking TMac to retire however i think both he and Melky should continue for another year.

Out - Fullerton, Woewodin, Hore, Henderson, Billings

In - White (FS), Sinnema (NGA),

Dees linked - Derksen, M.Heath, M.Lewis

I hope it will be a summer of significant change.

In the assumed absence of players wanting to be traded out, I would delist:
- Billings
- McDonald (or replace with TMac with Campbell if we trade in a backup ruck)
- Spargo
- Woewodin
- Fullarton
- Laurie (Delist & Re-Rookie for final year of contract)
- (R) Henderson
- (R) Hore
- (R) One of Sestan / K Brown

Which gives us the space to add:
- ND Second Round Pick (Currently #24)
- Toby Sinnema
- Kalani White
- Trade in Wade Derksen
- Player X via Trade / FA / SSP
- Player Y via Trade / FA / SSP

I would definitely keep Clarrie. This was a year for confidence building after a challenging 2024 season. I have a feeling that he will be back to his best form next year.

As long as he plays 4 quarters. His stats look good until you realise he got like 10 disposals in 1 quarter.

Would that perhaps be the quarter we scored 7 goals against a finals contender perhaps?

It’s almost like when Clarry plays well we are a better team.

Someone on another thread seemed to hint that TMac would not be playing on

INJURED DEE CHASING EXTENSION - from HUN

Injured Melbourne playmaker Andy Moniz-Wakefield is set to win a one-year extension as the Dees line up a long list of out-of-contract players.

The Demons have been working to sign up defender Judd McVee and have to make calls on a bunch of others on the list, including veteran Tom McDonald and premiership player Charlie Spargo.

Evergreen forward Jake Melksham and summer signing Jai Culley are both performing well while waiting on a new deal.

Moniz-Wakefield, 21, should lock down a one-year extension in coming weeks, having had his 2025 ruined by a ruptured ACL.

The former Category B signing broke through last year to play six senior games, showing glimpses of dash off the back flank

Is a good start

How do we get Sam Flanders? I think he’d be a great addition but we don’t have the draft capital, players to trade or salary cap room imv

This trade would probably require us to trade one of Petracca or Oliver and then move those picks the other way to the Suns.

Trade Oliver Lever or Trac

How has Fullarton been cruelled by injury??

Pretty much played a whole season at VFL level last year and this year.

Lets just accept the fact that hes simply not good at all and injury has played no role in that.

I see Fullarton was named as our best in the last Casey match, yet not mentioned in goal kickers . So, are they trying him in defence ? Athletic type, might he have a future at CHB?

Fullarton played well at CHB versus the Lions last week. His ability to cover ground and cover aerially was good. Bug he lacks physical pressure and smarts. Very good VFL type (like quite a few in our list) but not imv up to AFL quality. He will likely be delisted at year end.

My List management: Next up Trade Delist

FB: Lever Petty McVee Laurie May Hore

HB: Rivers Turner Bowey Fullarton Spargo Billings

C: Langdon Oliver Lindsey Campbell Salem Henderson

HF: Chandler Kent/Jeffo Petracca McAdam Viney

FF: Fritsch JVR Melk Johnson Sparrow

Mid: Gawn Langford Kossie Verrall T-Mac

Int: Windsor Howes Culley Kolt Woewodin

Sub: Mentha Brown

Emg: AMW Kent/Jeffo Adams Sestan

To me, today was yet another example that the same board review team that decided Goody had to go, has hopefully made the similar move to delist Tim Lamb.

Being list manager is a tough gig, but I can only sincerely hope that he realises now that he is not quite cut out for it and it's time to let someone else have a go.

Effectively he has taken large steps towards destroying what many felt after 2021 was the best young list in the comp and included a great group of core veterans.

Sure he would argue that he couldn't do anything about losing Jackson and ANB along with Angus and it's the coaches fault that Grundy barely got a go as a ruckman in 2023.

But his trade initiatives have been abysmal - Schache, Hunter, Fullarton, Billings and Hoire on top of this year's Sharp addition.

Then there's his inability to kick back on player agents - significantly the lengthy deals for both Oliver and Kozzie are fraught with danger - why a significant carrot wasn't offered for a shorter term is beyond me.

This year the new coach, presumably Buckley, may want to trade a couple of our players on top of McVee, but does anyone feel Lamb has a good grasp on the trade market and a player's ability.

By contrast Jason Taylor has been pretty much bang on, although I really wish he had taken one of Caddy or Tauru to help solved our marking crisis - outside of Gawny that is.

My guess is the two points are probably linked. The significant deals being given out to existing players have us hamstrung with the talent we are able to bring in. Although, now that I think about it, I'm not sure how we could have brought in Houston, but maybe Kossie got some of that cap.

I don't know what Trac and Oliver's contracts are, but it seems that they are being paid so much that it does not come close to their output of late. I'd hate to see them traded and us paying some of their salary for years to come. I hope that they can improve under a new coach.

We have certainly lost a lot of depth without adequate replacement.

It’s only mid season so still time to see what players can shine in the back half and who might take their opportunities.

The veterans. Over 30. Age at start of 2026

Tmac (33) - not sure he gets another year

Melksham (34) maybe one more year

Billings (30). Likely will be delisted

Tom Campbell (34) One more year in the absence of young rucks

The fringe …

Laurie. Excellent VFL player but lacks the pace and killer skills to get regular AFL footy. Stuck in the middle. Contracted but may get offers elsewhere We may let him go

Hore. Unfortunately injuries have again meant he has missed his chances. Likely delisted at end of year

Fullarton. Was given his opportunity but showed he’s not up to it. To be delisted imv

Sestan, Kentfield, Verrall, Woey jnr deserve another year

Ricky Mentha has shown enough to get another year

AMW - yes he showed plenty and unlucky to get injured. I’d sign him up for 2 years

Adams contracted to 2026

Ruthless decisions?

Spargo. Thanks but we need more from a small forward then 6 possessions and 2 kicks for 15 metres. 1 goal in 10 games is not good enough

McAdam. His 3 year deal may save him. Was looking okay in 2025 preseason until injured. Unsure if he stays but likely will.

Update shortly

I suspect it’s the end for T Mc even if he’s been perfectly adequate.

If he wants to keep going I’d give him another year but Melk talking about spending time with his family makes me think he’s had enough.

Culley another year. Tom Campbell another year if we can’t find a ready made ruck. AMW another year.

Billings, Hore, Fullarton thanks for your services.

Spargo probably leaves as a free agent. Kynan Brown and Sestan maybe.

Henderson, Woey, Verrall maybe not. Just depends how many list changes we make with trades in and out.

I think Verrall has to either be delisted or elevated to the primary list after 3 years on the rookie list. I suspect delisting which is a bit of a shame, I thought he could have been a better option as the second ruck but hasn't been given the chance. Doesn't seem to effect the game enough outside of the ruck contest for Casey.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
