Were you shocked when Judd got the Visy ambassador deal to join Carlton?

Do you know how many shares Pavlich owns in WA mining companies, and why he never left to go back to SA?

These things are common place in AFL. Geelong just does it better than most, because they have more resources to leverage which are easy to 'hide', especially in terms of property.

You would be shocked if you knew how little Tom Hawkins got paid over his footballing journey, but he and Emma's property is worth millions. Now go prove that property was bought by the club but is now somehow owned by Tom and Emma...

Exactly so the problem isn't what they're doing, it's what we (may) not be doing.

Reading this thread I feel like people didn't actually listen to what was actually reported?

People have made up their mind that Geelong are cheats and no evidence to the contrary will change that. People see what they want to see.

Because there was nothing noteworthy reported. Caro basically said there were a handful of administrative errors that numerous other clubs have been done for in recent times. Did you actually watch the report?

Caro is a good newsbreaker, who does a lot of the AFLs biding. The fact she hasn't really touched this suggests that a number of clubs would he implicated (good - they should be dragged over the coals like we were), and with her track record on turning a blind eye to Richmond, they are probably one of them (Lynch?).

we're like the old money landed gentry that have the fancy country abode... but the roof leaks, everything smells of mould, and only 3 of the 27 rooms are truly habitable

No one would even be talking about this if she hadn't brought it up on her show and basically no one has touched it since.

It was sensationalised headline grabbing stuff to pump up the ratings on her new show.

HQ are proud to let everyone know who their favourites are - Cats, Pies, Hawks, Blues. No hiding the corruption these days.

Andrew Dillon is fast becoming the puppet AFL CEO. He is bending to everyone's will, has no vision or plan. I agree on soft-cap increases but hte 20% of the senior coach sitting outside the cap is just an utter joke.

The marketing income for senior coaches to sit outside the cap is absolute garbage. Just bake it into the salary cap, every club will find a way to move the coaches wages into this model.

These guys are absolute amateurs. Beggers belief.

So the cats have deals with corporate sponsors

The AFL response?

Let’s change the rule to copy what the Cats are doing!!! So now it’s legal

FFS. Cats. Hawks. Pies. Blues. The AFL are soft as butter.

What the …

If there's no 3rd party deals, then there's no house on the surf coast for Dillon to rush down to.

I suppose you think they could have had the secret meeting at the club? Ha

Excuse my ignorance SW but can you explain what this infers pls

So if Cotton-On was considered 3 party payment, then imagine if the sweatshop in Bangladesh that was awarded Cotton-On's lucrative manufacturing contract, was also in on the deal and had indicated to Cotton-On that they'd partially fund the player payment by reducing production costs if they were to acquire a said player.

I made that up by the way and the whole Bangladesh sweatshops for Cotton On was a bit of creative license. I have no affiliations with the Bangladesh sweatshop.

It’s easy. They pay minimal wages to players’, then get a third party to pay them astronomical sponsorship money where said player does SFA aside from the odd cameo appearance, all the while the club floods the home ground in sponsor products………..

Then these players are able to get their hands on land that ‘has just come on to the market’ or was a ‘private sale’ in enviable locations in the surf coast. Similar to COLA purposes, only this time its name is lifestyle.

Yep, I think someone mentioned earlier in the thread how Bailey Smith is paid by Cotton On as one of their best paid "ambassadors"

It is just outrageous they they have room to recruit the likes of Harley Reid or Butters. This comp is so far from a level playing field.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
