Garry, i get it, we can't score, we can't deliver the ball inside 50, but we don't need to hear it every 2 minutes.

That was embarrassing.

-39 disposals

-4 clearances

-33 uncontested possessions

-10 in tackles

I'm done with giving these guys a chop out. If you don't want to work hard on matchday then [censored] off

at the game tonight iam sitting row b right on the 50 line, fritsch is a joke of a footballer atm disgusting body language, disgrace to the great no 31

I think you can see the look of dejection on the players faces too. It's dawning on them what has already dawned on us: a long time in the wilderness beckons, and a lot of pain lies in our future.

Like a sandcastle destroyed by the waves, the dynasty that could have been has been washed away, only to leave…this.

It’s depressing that it has come to this. How can we be so consistent at being a rabble of a club.

Why must our forwards always look for the ball out the back. Lead up towards the ball carrier!

Sounds a lot like Garry is on the 'Sack Goody' train now

Deep down he's a frustrated supporter like we are & probably cannot fathom how bad we are going

Nothing grinds my gears more than seeing the opposition win a ground ball off a stoppage in our defensive 50. Hobbs allowed to just waltz in the first time and miss, then minutes later he bobs up again with a goal.

We are just getting killed all over the field when the ball hits the deck.

Dylan Shiel 14 disposals

Andrew McGrath 11 disposals

Nic Martin 11 disposals

Archie Roberts 9 disposals

Will Setterfield 8 disposals

Zach Merrett 8 disposals

Ed Langdon 8 disposals.

Top possession getters at quarter time. It's unwatchable.

Who can blame him? We have gone backwards so quickly it's hard to see how we can win any games playing like this. I'm waiting for the next quarter to see if a miracle might happen.

Massively down on the tackle count and no marks inside 50.

If only we had a bloke like Brown and Fullerton in the VFL who could help.

Welp. Stubborn Simon will just back in the A team.

Genuine question. Has anyone seen us lead towards the ball carrier yet? Or just away from them?

I was just about to ask a similar thing. Adelaide v Geelong and Pies v Sydney, had players constantly leading up. Are all our forwards pushing up so by the time we enter F50 they have to run back?

Skills poor. But lack of effort, tackles & chasing is damning. Really reflects Goodwin’s inability to get the players up for the fight. Not to mention the horrible decision not to bring in a marking forward.

Our stoppage set ups are so poor. Essendon always have a free player unaccounted for and our players seem complacent being second to the ball. Shame they can't put pressure on either when the bombers inevitably win possession.

Still baffled about our lack of tall forwards when players continually bomb it deep to our small forwards.

The double grabbing and interrupting our team-mates possession is still rife. A team thats lacking direction and confidence.

For the feint of heart time to stop watching. this is a 70 plus point loss coming up folks.

Essendon aren't that good 🤣

Our players are so stationary whenever we have a mark or a free kick. We give ourselves very little opportunity to take uncontested marks and build pressure, we just bomb to a contest over and over. We were ok with that when contest was our superpower, but that’s clearly not the case anymore.

As Meatloaf said, 2 out of 3 ain't bad

Might need a few more than 3 to watch this garbage.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
