Before our Geelong match Jeffo told me he would be available for selection. He didn’t say he’s a chance, he said he’s a cert. I asked Jacob (our club doctor) if this was so. Jacob said no, it’s not. I told Jacob he may wanna have a little chat with Jeffo coz it appears delusion has well n truly set in 😅

Jacob said it’s understandable that Jeffo thinks he’ll be right because he’s not far off being available. He then went on to explain that this injury is entirely different to Clarrie’s injury in terms of healing. He said the metal plate in Jeffo’s hand is in a position that allows a range of ability without exacerbating the injury.

That’s me simplifying a bunch of stuff he said but he also added they won’t be rushing Jeffo back in and that while it may seem a premature return when he does return, it will be the right time.

At the time, he said possibly vs Essendon, if not, vs Freo.

Whatever they are doing ain't working. Six goals for the game last week and 1 in the second half. A KPF kicks 5 in the reserves but cannot get a game.

I'm sure he's a lovely guy, but I can't understand why we persist playing Petty right now, I would much MUCH rather have Turner running around down back than Petty at the moment and I don't think there would be many who disagreed with that.

I see it that for two years now we have been trying to transform our game, recruiting quick skilled players to attack from the half back through the corridor, a recognition that forward entries from contested play often turns it over and hurts us… the transition was abandoned last season due to injuries, and this season we are only now getting back the key players critical to making this transition click, Pickett last week, XL this week and hopefully McVee and Kolt next week.

In part I suspect it’s easier to teach a new game style to new talented kids than have our older crew change the way they’ve played for years. But, and a point Goody has made repeatedly, these things take time.

So buckle up, quit bitching and buy in to what our club, coach and players are trying to do.

If it clicks, we beat the Dons and the moaners can chew their gristle in silence for a week. If it doesn’t, well it’s another week of angry whining on D’land, and I’ll just tune out and hope the club continues with it’s transformation the following week.

I will concede that I don't have all the data and experience at the top flight, so I'd really like someone from the club to explain why Disco is getting dropped after 1 game and so many others who seemed (by all available metrics) worse keep their spot.

I have nothing personal against Fritta and Petty, but they seem completely adrift. A week (or 2) in the magoos will be good for confidence, getting their hands on the pill etc. It will also let us try out Adams, Fullerton (sp?) and others (Culley).

Given how poorly the team has performed this year, the supporters deserve a better understanding of what is happening.

I am trying to have a glass half full attitude. Even though his comments received some backlash, SG was correct in saying that last week was an improvement from the previous two weeks.

Clean up some of our basic errors and we may see a quick turnaround. We still have major issues with delivery into the forward 50 but part of that is a lack of confidence in my opinion.

I am hopeful that this week is the start of a positive run of form.

In fairness, the way Geelong smacked Freo in round 1 at GMHBA and proved their bona fides last night against Adelaide with a few best 22 out, I’d suggest a lot of teams would’ve lost by 6 goals to Geelong last week, like we did.

Sometimes it all it takes is for a horribly out of form team to put in an improved effort in terms of being in the game for 3 quarters and they then reference that as a turning point going forward. We were objectively better last week for 3 quarters until our mistakes and lack of forward options did us in.

However we just can’t kick a winning score with this current squad and don’t have the forward line to rectify this IMO.

Watching old man Tex Walker still running around kicking goals, then watching JVR, young fit and key forward going backwards. Either he is low on confidence or being badly coached. In any event he should be much better.

Long bombs into the forward line lead to defenders having Oxley like stats.

For some reason, forwards don't want to/can't lead, or if they do, they are ignored.

So, why not kick it to grass, and let the forwards run onto the ball? At least they won't be outmarked.

We are in total disarray in terms of scoring. Abysmal is too kind.

It won't matter diddly if we can tidy up our game some if we can't hit the side of a barn.
