Must play him for 6 weeks to see what he offers, thats my take!

Iā€™m aware thatā€™s your take, Iā€™ve seen some of the 4 or 5,000 ā€œPICK JEFFOā€ posts over the past 2 years.

But sure, why not play him? He wonā€™t be any worse than the fwds we had tonight, but I donā€™t think heā€™ll be much better. Heā€™s light framed, doesnā€™t hit packs, not all that strong overhead. If he can get a kick with the way weā€™re delivering the ball Iā€™ll sing his praises but I expect much the same as weā€™ve been getting.

Iā€™ve found a German bar in G-Town not far from the ground that serves dark beers so Iā€™ll save my assessment of tonightā€™s loss for the clear light of day.

Seriously, take care there bud.

Selected next week on ā€˜effortā€™

May

Salem

Petracca

Gawn

Oliver

Bowey

McDonald

Fritsch

Pickett

This is not to say they were successful, just that their attempt to compete and drive the team forward was consistent and recognizable

Gawn is done as a solo ruckman he needs support now. Bring in Campbell (I think thatā€™s him).

For the Lov of god get JVR, Turner and Fritta a recognised forward coach to teach them the craft ffs. Dunstall, Hawkins, the Ox, Neitz just to name a few. There are plenty out there just need to hire one.

I think itā€™s time for a new voice and game plan that suits the players we have.

We did the "game plan that suits the players we have".

It won't get us anywhere, any time soon.

Carlton's trying it now, and are the only side rivalling us for underperformance.

We just have too many passengers and players who are out of form.

Guys like , Sparrow, Rivers, Petty Fritsch, JVR, Sharp, Melksham, even Henderson is finding it tough at AFL level.

We look slow and one paced.

The despair on Tracs face at the end is probably him realising it ainā€™t gonna happen with this group anytime soon.

When Lever returns TMac must go forward as he is the only player who looks like marking the footy right now.

From Swamp on socials:

MELB scoring and ladder percentage in Q4 this year

4.9 (33) - points for

21.9 (135) - points against

24.44%

That is a huge friggin problem.

Surely Selwyn Griffith is moved on at the end of this year.

I watched some of our 2021 vids this week, and I was genuinely surprised how arrogant some of our players were when they openly said "we know we're the fittest team in the AFL". They were and they all knew it and weren't shy about it. We would be in the bottom 4 for fitness now along with Carlton.

Him and Bowey were BOG for me.

Not that it matters, but Bowey would be winning our BnF at this point. Has been solid in every game. Made a couple of errors, but at least he attacks and generally uses it well.

Thats the Burgess magic trick. He flogged them hard but kept insisting it was to make them the fittest.

Whether they actually were....hard to tell. But they believed they were. One of the rare high performance coaches that knows it's as much psychological and motivational as it is physical.

Selwyn might know a lot about anatomy and a bit about loading (Ahem) but he's about as inspirational as the Myki train voiceover

Nah. Itā€™s a good crowd Sesto. Probably better than the Sawyers Arms before the game but I might still end up there for lunch tomorrow before I head back up the highway.

Iā€™m pretty sure we outran GC last week. Not sure about North/Giants. I donā€™t think itā€™s fitness. Itā€™s confusion, lack of system, and in the last quarters in particular, futility. The belief isnā€™t there. Theyā€™re essentially hoisting the white flag.

6 goals. 50 inside 50s.

Forward 50 connection

Straight lines into the 50 or mark just outside, ā€¦ stop. Stop. Panic. Stop stop panic oops play on then kick it to no one or no one's advantage or straight to a Cats defender!!!

Enjoy your night mate. Good on you for getting to the game.

The frustration shown by Trac at the end of the game shows how much he wants to win & how frustrated he is, on wonders if he will request a trade

Can anyone confirm that Windsorā€™s kicking foot is the one with the infection? Cause he shanked two kicks early & at times seemed to be looking to handball rather than kick

Suns kicked 6.2 to 2.2, I donā€™t think that counts as outrunning them. Weā€™re -102 points in 4th quarters this season. We ain't fit.

Agree. Handballed at times when he was running and free and could hit up a target !!

I was referring to the GPS/tracker stats. Iā€™m not making excuses for either the players or Berg btw. Obviously a lot needs to change.

How can we be a fit side if we lose the uncontested marks nearly-80 and the same with uncontested possessions, on a small ground?

We look unfit and like we're always lagging in a Zoom meeting and our skills being so garbage makes sense because of that.

I read the frustration as him not wanting to play forward and spend more time in midfield.

Jordan Lewis comments on Monday seem to be pointing to Trac

I am almost certain you are right about him requesting a trade though.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old sideā€”the Tigersā€”coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking?Ā I mean by ā€œtheyā€ the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around.Itā€™s no secret that the Demonsā€™ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack.Ā Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryanā€™s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winningĀ 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
