He should be a club leader, 30y.o being paid lots of lucre.

At the moment we are being short changed.

I keep seeing this line about Trac being ‘open to a range of teams,’ but where has he actually said that? I’ve seen plenty of journos and trade gossip pages run with it, but not a single direct quote from Trac himself.

This is how the cycle works every year — vague leaks from managers or rival clubs get spun into ‘player X wants out,’ then it snowballs until fans start treating it as fact.

Until I hear it from Trac or his management on record, it’s just speculation. And given how the media works, half of this feels more like leverage than reality!

Funny how only a few of us defend a bloke who literally put his body — almost his life — on the line for this club. You’d think that kind of sacrifice would buy him more respect!

I can't get behind the paywall but that title is enough for me!

While trade period is still a way away and anything can happen, King wouldn't be so direct if he had ideas to send either packing.

Very happy both will stay demons! 🥳👏🏻🎉

Paywall woes for me too. But the misspelling of Steven’s first name is more annoying than that 😭

Lets just say GC offer up pick 6 and Sam Flanders. I've little doubt we'd be on the hook for upto $400K of his salary. I wouldn't expect Tracc would be taking a paycut. I'm actually ok with that as he clearly would prefer to move on or he and his manger could do would Clayton and his just did. To me he's a petulant man child who at his best can destroy a game of football but his bravery his been dented (totally understandably so) but his petulance remains. I'm now fully in the trade him out camp.

Do you really think we'd give up Tracc for pick six and flanders AND pay 400K of his salary (would have to be multiple years)?

The only possible world in which we would do so is we desperately wanted him gone because of Baliey Smith level behavioral issues - and no one is suggesting tracc is in that boat.

My ex partner but her body through a lot to give me my beautiful daughter, I will forever be grateful for that. But that's as far as it goes.

If he walks out, he will receive the same treatment, thanks for the flag, but not good luck!!

Right? How quickly some fans turn. Pre his horrific injury he was a beloved Demons champion. All it took was for the media to go to town on him and in a flash he’s public enemy #1. Shameful really.

I can see why she’s your EX partner 🙃

Sounds to me like NOBODY from our team is talking to the MAGGOT MEDIA as distinct from MAGOOT UMPIRES at all.

And they have spat the dummy.

Love Trac, but if the right deal can be done and both parties can walk away on good terms then it's not a bad outcome at all.

The club is trying to create a clean slate for next year and it might be that Trac needs that himself.

Adelaide need him more than almost any other club but not sure they will be prepared to make it worth our while.

Gold Coast would be an ideal trading partner, they seem to be a team that favours getting trades done rather than posturing.

If it does happen it might end up being a multi-club situation.

What do the Crows even have to offer us that would appeal? assuming they don't want to give us a key forward, i really just don't see it.

Picks that'll get pushed into the second round by the Academies aren't going to appeal.

My mouth waters at Trac for Thrilla, but it's a pipe dream

I’d be telling Trac’s management that we’ll facilitate a deal if you get us two quality first round picks (i.e. at least top 10 this year) or a player and a first round pick (potentially with something coming back from us)

To me Gold Coast seems the ideal trading partner as they have three first rounders as well as Flanders who we’ve expressed interest in, but who knows if they’d be keen on him or not

They absolutely do and i'd argue they're a better chance of a flag in the next 2-3 years than the Crom.

I get why Trac might like the Crom, bigger crowds, profile, Melbourne connections in Burgo, ANB and should be a finals team

but the Suns have picks 6, 13, 17 in this years draft, plus their future picks, plus Flanders that we're keen on

People might want to tamper their hate until we 100% know that Trac wants out.

High Chances are, the media is once again full of rectum waste.

Also a small chance that the club wants him gone.

He can stay or go, but at some point it would be nice to get an update directly from the player rather than by sticking pieces of media leaks together like a jigsaw.

We need high picks and quality players who want to be here, who are prepared to play what is a brutally tough and contested game. I just don't see a world where that's Tracc. I also don't see a club handing over high picks and or quality players and paying all of his contract. I'm also of the mind that he's just not the guy we really hoped he'd turn out to be, he should be our Dangerfield, maybe he'll be someone else's? Just say Taylor turns pick 6 into another Langford or Lindsay, we get Flanders and we're losing some cash on the side, which in effect we're saving having Pick 6 rather than Petracca anyway.

Whilst what I'm saying is more of a general statement and not specifically related to Petracca, surely as a community, we've moved past this naivety. The AFL does not have a landscape where players talk candidly about player movement (cf. most other sports, including the NRL/NBA/NFL/F1 etc).

Specifically on Petracca, I'm not saying he'll be at the club, or won't be at the club next year, but at this stage the only reason he played with us this year is because a trade was unable to be facilitated last year. I think it's somewhat petulant or naive to put your head in the sand regarding the Petracca situation; this is bubbling away under the surface and I would expect that if a trade can be facilitated, it will be.

My 'partner' in this instance is the MFC though, not a bloke who tried to storm out of it last year though. I did love him pre- what happened last off-season, but he was selfish in how he approached it. Have I turned on him since then, yes... have I turned on the club, not in the slightest.

Just the small issue of Clarry not agreeing to go to SA

A huge issue. So huge that just the thought of being traded to Adelaide prompted him to set up a meeting with Geelong leadership group players. He didn’t want to leave but thought if he was to be traded he’d pick which team he goes to. Clarrie would never live in another state.

Speaking of living in another state, Tracc wouldn’t entertain the thought of living anywhere other than Victoria either.

Maybe King can chat with Tracc about a new on-field role that might re-energise him. The option of giving him a half-back role. I put this idea into ChatGPT -

Petracca’s brilliance is his explosiveness in the midfield and forward 50, but he has been banged up and heavily tagged. A half-back role could:

  • Benefit Him:

    • Give him more time and space to use his kicking and vision.

    • Reduce the constant battering he takes in the guts.

    • Allow him to dictate tempo and rebound from defensive 50, similar to how Dustin Martin was trialled in different roles to extend his influence.

  • Benefit the Team:

    • Melbourne’s half-back line has relied heavily on Christian Salem and Jake Bowey — Petracca would add power, leadership, and creativity there.

    • His line-breaking run could turn defence into attack instantly.

    • In finals, a weapon like Petracca off half-back forces opposition teams into a matchup nightmare.

But — it should be a flexible role. He can start half-back, roll into the midfield when the game demands, and even rest forward. Selling him on being the ultimate utility weapon could re-ignite his motivation.

Interesting.

Jesus Christ stop with the AI garbage. You’re a Melbourne supporter, you already know all of this

i would personally do that deal. Trac is 30 soon and no where near as good as he was a few years ago.

If he could kick straight he may be worth more as a fwd/mid

Exactly. It is very shameful. An Ex-poster on this site WCW also turned on Trac last year. Shameful really.

Clarry is not going anywhere anyway. We all know why he even contemplated leaving and met with Geelong. The reason is now long dead.

I’m not so sure about Trac. Last year I would have said no way in hell he leaves Victoria. But I wonder how much he’s changed after going thru what he did. Maybe a fresh start with Bella, is what he wants.

After all they spend a fair amount of time away in Noosa so maybe the sun and lifestyle of the Gold Coast appeals more now. He rightfully has one eye on the future, as anyone his age and having gone thru such a bad injury would have. He knows nothing is promised in the game.

Selfish???! You deem him selfish based on what the media told you? Most of that was fabricated. Tracc never “tried to storm out” of the club. Again, fabrication.

Also, you’ve turned on Tracc but not on the Club unlike some (me included) who’ve turned on neither. It’s the grubby media who should be castigated.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
