Another scribe looking for click bait.

I can't imagine anyone or any player at the club feeding this tripe to Ralph.

A guy who comes 2nd in the BnF isn't just 'going thru the motions' !!!

This is the sort of reporting that really erks me.

The 'going through the motions' part is fine. I'm sure a lot of players are weighing up their options at the moment. I'm sure after proper discussions with King that Trac will be clearer on whether he wants to stay or not. In the meantime he keeps options open and if that includes chatting to to other clubs, fine.

But Ralph reporting that his teammates 'CERTAINLY suspect that he doesn't want to be there next year' is just rubbish. I reckon its completely fabricated and he hasn't spoken to any players at all. Even if he has spoken to a currently listed player I highly doubt they worded it this way. To imply that multiple teammates feel this way is total [censored]. I can't imagine players would do this as it doesn't help their team at all by leaking such opinions to the media. Whom/What would making such comments benefit?

Trac straight swap for Zak Merrett would work

My boy Clazz, it was always meant to be ❤️

Clayton Oliver remains committed to Melbourne and is determined to be a major part of Steven King’s side next year.

Twelve months on from a volatile exchange period in which the Demons explored trading him and he met with Geelong, Oliver is said to have fallen back in love with the club.

Oliver’s manager Nick Gieschen of Connors Sports Management said his client was resolute on staying put.

“He’s very happy at Melbourne, loves the club and wants to have a great season in 2026,” Gieschen said.

“He’s a Melbourne person.”

While rumours persist around the future of teammate Christian Petracca, Oliver wants to remain a part of King’s plans for next year.

A triple All-Australian and four-time best and fairest winner, Oliver has a lucrative contract at Melbourne until the end of 2030.

Not saying trac wants out but fed up with players in the AFL signing long term contracts and then when things are not 100% etc they want to move clubs & expect the same $$$ contract to continue! The AFL & PA have to stop this BS or just have max 3 year contracts, can’t have security & flexibility, suck it up you signed a long contract own it!

I didn't like some of Trac's body language, when he was up forward, towards the end of this season.

Ah yes, the old body-language stat, right up there with clangers and contested possessions.

Our whole forward structure was dysfunctional. When the system breaks down, even stars look flat.

I thought at the best and fairest saying it’s just a job , didnt fill me with confidence and it was as if he was preparing us for something

Clarry was starting to look like the Clarry of old towards the end of the season.

Must keep in my eyes.

Are you referencing his interview after winning the Syd Anderson? If so you're misquoting there.

He said "its my job, but its not just my job, its my passion" in reference to the question about how he managed to get fit enough to return to football and play a full season after the horrific injuries last season.

I am a culprit of sometimes over-reading things and with Trac its often easy to do so. Trying to take caution here.

that quote is very different to what the medja and some here have referenced

Possibly because (if I remember correctly) there was a pause between 'my job' and 'my passion' which could have sounded like passion was an after-thought which he felt obliged to add.

This is 100% correct.

A lot of MFC eyebrows were raised. It was a spectacular error on Trac’s behalf.

He is a mental midget so it’s possible he thought he was funny. It’s also possible he really doesn’t want to hang around. Again, like last year, it would be so easy for him to control this narrative if he so chose to.

Waiting….

its my job, [..........space........]but its not just my job, its my passion

Yup. And the comma is doing the heavy lifting here. The way he answered it was with a full stop. And was a 3 or 4 second pause with awkward laughter from all involved before adding to that statement. The words alone on a page are somewhat of a misquote.

Seems to be an epidemic of star players wanting out of their long term contracts this season…unusual.

As for Trac would love if it he stays and is 100% committed but this constant speculation is getting tiresome year on year, perhaps if he isn’t all in a break up is best for both sides

I don’t think Morris makes stories up and I dare say might have some contacts within the Trac camp.

Kings feet have only just gone under the desk, so the next 2 weeks will tell us.

I would say some stories might be narratives but I agree he doesn't make it up himself

Why wouldn't the club put it to him and Oliver to come out in official Mfc gear and say, we are staying 100% otherwise ask for a trade so everyone knows where they stand being in middle ground is not good for anyone

We did the right thing last year keeping him to his contract and hoping we can turn things around. He was in a bad mental state post injury, and we were in a bad place off the field.

12 months on, he’s come 2nd in the B&F, and has a new CEO and new coach (coaches if you count a new midfield/ forward coaches coming in). More than that we can’t do.

If he still isn’t buying what we are selling, then we need to let him go. You can’t keep him tied to the club against his wishes forever.

This is the issue for me. Is he invested or not? If he isn’t then he has to be cut loose.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
