Did I say he was a victim?

Does he deserve to be toyed with for 3 years in a row?

He had an offer from Geelong last year, and he wanted to go, and the club said no.

He never wanted to leave, we keep pushing him out, then dragging him back in. That is a poor way to handle someone, anyone, let alone a 4 time B&F winner.

New coach, new view. I don’t see an issue with it.

The Petracca situation I completely understand, from his point of view and the club’s.

The Oliver situation has me absolutely baffled.

Really? I'm the opposite.

Absolute genius move from Guerra to set up a fake meeting with Clarry to find out who's leaking info to the media

I fully expect an interview with Guerra, King, and Clarry in the next hour, saying he's pumped for a new season under King.

(I'm not trying to cope, I don't know what you're talking about)

Yes, I personally don’t think we will be able to offload Oliver, but telling him now he is going to be challenging Woey for a HBF role (just postulating) in October is great.

He won’t be surprised when it happens and it gives certainty to a Rivers or a Laurie or whoever that there are minutes there for you in a midfield that hasn’t changed in 6 years.

Oh..Laurie in the midfield…we will be right then. A bloke that has zero credits at AFL level. Too small. Not fast. Great. Lucky we have him

This reminds of McRae coming into the Pies and offloading long term contracts of Grundy and Treloar and paying significant portions of their salaries for years

How did they go the year after again??

I want a club full of invested players, who are a tight group, all working their butts off for team success. Whether that translates to wins next year to me is irrelevant.

I want an attacking style of gameplan that brings joy to players and supporters.

I’m sick of player run agendas.

#InKingyWeTrust

This does seem that we are weeding out all the troublemakers or the one who have brought controversies to the club.

Im not blaming the players entirely, club must bear some responsibility.

If this is what it takes to clear the air and have a playing and coaching group all going in the same direction, the so be it.

This is genuinely insane.

  1. What's going on with Clarry that we're suddenly this desperate to get rid of him?

Been pretty obvious for a while. How many other players need to move in with their captain and his family to be babysat?

Clarry's challenge is reach the brutal running levels required of an AFL mid. Possible Dees don't think he can check that box at the level required.

It’s probably needed someone like our new coach to arrive on the scene with a dispassionate and unromantic view of the players, for reality to be acted upon.

Me either.

This whole new approach is an absolute breath of fresh air.

Kingy doing something in a space of 12 minutes that Goodwin couldn't do for the past 3 years with Oliver.

That's harsh. For all of Clarry's faults, he's the first to admit he has them and has been transparent about the impact it has on others, and that he's needed to improve himself. There's others in the club who I would trust far, far less than Clarry.

Was it funny in your head?

Who’s being funny champ?

Should have traded him two years ago when he still had some value but C'est la vie.

Looks like we are fully embracing the rebuild now and moving out the culture killers.

Exciting times ahead.

Let’s wait for the club to confirm, my question is what’s their strategy to replace Oliver as which mids are we linked to?? essentially 5 years after the flag we are possibly losing our premiership hero's

Gonna miss claz if we trade him. Hope we can work it out but looking doubtful.

Reading between the lines King has repeatedly said he’s building the culture of the club with a clean slate. So I’m guessing it’s clearing out the bad eggs etc

You know journalists actually have to verify information through multiple sources. This is insanely conspiratorial.

I used to be an actual journalist.

AFL rumour mongers are not actual journalists and are 100% not verifying their information through multiple sources.

I’d hope we have 2 ready made fast mids we are targeting!

Is this because we think all these changes is what OnTrac brand was requesting to stay?

I have no problem with the club looking to move clarry. His output v his salary are poles apart.

But paying 700k is bonkers and makes no sense to me.

And I reckon we should have let clarry know sooner than this week.

If he's truly only 1.3 or more that's what it will take.

Put it this way. If Clarry was a free agent. You have to give him a 5 year deal. What's the most you would pay him? For me, it's 500k pa.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #5 Christian Petracca

The superstar Demon midfielder made a successful return to the fold after his devastating injury last year and the subsequent fallout from the treatment he received, during which time he sought to depart the club. Petracca's professionalism and strong play, both in the midfield and up forward, were outstanding and resulted in him being runner-up in the club's best and fairest count. However, early this week, the club's new CEO, Paul Guerra, confirmed that the under-contract Petracca has again requested a trade, adding that he would only be allowed to leave for a “quality offer that turns our head". No doubt some Demon heads are already spinning.
