Humphrey and/or Flanders well and truly in the frame now.

Trac has officially nominated and requested a trade to the Gold Coast Suns.

Surely he must know he has a path to get there. Will be interesting to see what it looks like. Flanders+Humphrey would be the dream. Flanders + 6 or Humphrey+7(assuming Flanders goes to Saints) would be my hope. Happy to throw back 23 if required. Need to consider the $$$$ also saved as part of this (assuming GC take all his salary).

We hold all the cards here. Humphrey & Flanders for Petracca - otherwise, he stays.

I know Lamb is in the drivers seat, but interesting to see whether Guerra / King push towards being firmer / less collaborative. Their clarity in comms has been spot on - let’s see if they can be as effective at the trade table

100%.

Morris just said that St Kilda gets Flanders and we get pick 7.

[censored] that.

If the draft is as poor as they’re saying, why would we give up a champion player albeit down slightly in performance to make him happy?

He can park his butt in the VFL for all I care, or they give Humphrey and Flanders.

I also know we're meeting with Flanders again today for our second meeting so with a bit of luck we blow him away and he nominates the Dees as well.

The commentary from Cornes and Purple is a disgrace! They have been bagging us all year that we need to change and now that we are changing, they are bagging us even more. I hate those 2 blokes

Here is the problem with Tom Morris, he runs off with these wild extensions on whatever intel he has.

Christian Petracca and Sam Flanders are not equal players or prospects.

There go my plans for a productive workday. I'm turning off my work notification now.

Trac nominating Suns is massive for us

Flanders is a minimum. We must sign him. Hopefully we can nab Humphreys as well. If we manage that we've had a superb trade period.

And if we can go to the draft with at least one high pick i'd back JT to pick out a quality player.

I'm feeling very positive right now

That is not going to happen. I would be happy with Pick 6 and one of those.

They’re not at all - however we certainly should never give up Trac for pick 7, an unknown prospect who could be the next Jack Watts (dud) or injury prone player.

We should only accept both Humphrey and Flanders or no deal. We hold all of the power and Trac and Hardwick can whinge as much as they want but they’ll have to provide what terms we want.

This is funny, reminds when Petracca complained to the supporters about not turning up to games & he goes to Gold Coast

Bella really does wear the pants in that relationship

Reminder that Paul Guerra stated the below 30 September. That is not pick 7 in a weak draft.

Christian is contracted for a further four years and is a once in a generation player. With this in mind, any decision regarding Christian’s future will be made in the best interest of the Melbourne Football Club. In terms of our overarching strategy for this period, our focus is simple; we will explore every opportunity to strengthen our list. Our job is to ensure our list is the best it can be and that ultimately Melbourne Football Club is competing in September.

This would be huge!

2 deals i'd consider

Scenario 1: Flanders nominates us.

Pick 6 and Sam Flanders for Christian Petracca

Scenario 2: Flanders doesn't nomiante us

Pick 6 and 7 for Christian Petracca and pick 23

I'd love Humphrey but i can't fathom a world where the Suns let him go, especially if they don't need to to get other deals done.

Maybe if they could get Charlie Curnow in a straight swap?

Agree we wouldn’t take 7 For Tracc but what is the combo we would do.

We would do Flanders and 6.

Humphrey is more than 6 so IF we can get both to nominate us it would take Tracc and some of Oliver deal added to get it done.

I will say it again, if both boys nominate us we will get it done.

It could be up to King to convince both boys to select us. At least we have a midfield with plenty of room now and they get to play together if that interests them.

It is getting interesting.

Flanders and Humphrey for Trac would be [censored] awesome, def Humphrey! Get him across to us, that would be very excellent.

Interesting times to say the least, we really don't know what's going to happen but for them to accept a trade for Trac you'd imagine the dees would insist Humphrey comes to us because Flanders is not enough even with a good pick in a weak/compromised draft. If it was last years draft then it'd be a very different story...this year and next year drafts are totally compromised.

OR the conjecture about him being obsessed with his 'brand' and playing in front of big crowds is BS?

I understand that King, Guerra, Lamb etc are all thinking about the best interests of the club, but when you lose arguably 2 of your most liked players amongst the fan base (Pickett and Gawn probably the most liked) you're going to see a dip in membership. If we start with a similar 0-5 next year with another bottom 8 finish, I can almost guarantee you we'll have the smallest membership number in Vic by the end of 2026.

Yeah well with Clarry gone, my favourite player since Rob Flower, my membership is finished.. Period! At least Demonland won't have to put up with me either!

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
