Xavier Lindsay will be a star. Showed it in his first two games already. Fingers crossed on his knee scans!

As many know, I posted numerous times last year that he was the player that the Dees needed. Has footy IQ, good pace and ballwinning, with elite skills. Imv Worth trading out our 2025 pick. What was strange was the add-ons in the trade. I think gave up too much

Bombers - pick 9 plus 2025 third-round pick to Melbourne.

Dees -2024 picks 28, 40, 46, 54 & 65 PLUS first-round pick in 2025.

We only had 3 list spots last year. We took Langford and Lindsay, and then AJ at 68.

So at most we could have used one of 28, 40, 46, 54, or 65.

And if we had decided we needed a mature body ruck option as one of our list selections, then we weren't going to use one of the early picks on someone better than AJ. So we are better off trading these picks under value to get something we would use.

All that being said, I reckon we could have tried to keep one of them and traded into this year's draft for points. But given theis is obvious to me, we probably tried it but there were no takers.

Fantastic news.

(For the MFC good news is bad news that hasnt happened, and I'll take that.)

Who else thought that it was going to be the most Melbourne thing ever had he tore his ACL..

MFCSS and Norm Smith curse strikes again. Already two in form small forwards done for the year.

Some of course won’t blame MFCSS but rather Goody, fitness staff, selectors, doormen, board, President or Jeff Kennett.

Nah, in this day and age, and amidst all the current angst in the world and totally bad luck, it is definitely a sign of Trumpitis.

Guilty as charged.

Things are crook when hearing a bloke isn't as injured as he might have been turns to be my footy feel good story of the weekend

It is good news of course but an MCL can still be several weeks, right? Seem to remember Gawn missing a few weeks from one and Salem missing half a season, but my memory is hazy!

Melbourne will assess Lindsay during the week and don’t expect him to miss much football if he doesn't prove his fitness in time for round four.

It shows you where we're at right now that probably the only two good things to come out of this weekend were Langford's game, and this news that Lindsay's injury isn't major.

I was looking at the positives. Trac, Gawn and Lever all went alright in our premiership year

This news really brightened my day. Although, to be honest, I'd already been buoyed when on Sunday morning, during my kid's praccy match (during which I was sulking silently on the boundary, thinking about Saturday's debacle) I overheard another parent proclaim that the reason for Carlton's start to the season was they were "too woke".

A fellow Carlton supporter, apparently able to comprehend what he meant, said "Except Patrick Cripps..." and the bloke responded. "No, he's woke as well."

I quite literally had to stifle a laugh.

Immediately brought to mind the "this engine is woke" meme.

Some Good news scans have cleared Xavier of major structural damage to his Knee. Diagnosis: Medial ligament strain.

It wouldn’t have happened at Carlton if John Elliot was around!

Add Casey's encouraging performance. Talls and Smalls; Daniel 'Disco' Turner, Jed 'Jethro' Adams, plus Tom 'Cream' Fullarton. Bailey 'Bill' Laurie and Kynan 'Pup' Brown. All showed some promise.

No, but spending over their salary cap happened when he was around and that's largely why they have been so bad since.

Thank goodness for Carlton. At least we have something to laugh about.

Sadly it’s laugh with.

Look, I realise that this is meant to be a Xavier Lindsay Update thread but we now have the update.

Just one more to help ease the pain, Demon fans.

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
