Rubbish Comment!

I haven't read the previous posts on this thread so it could have already been put forward but Cameron the Bruce has served a decent apprenticeship with Clarko and now Fagan.

He would be at the top of my list for an interview

I don't believe we will be making any coaching change until we have a CEO and Brad Green has passed the reigns over to the new President who would co-own this. So at least until the end of the year?

If the executive team believe a change is now becoming timely in a couple of months due to ongoing poor performances, any delay based on the above and I fear we'll potentially both miss the boat with the pick of available premium coaches as well as lose significant footballing talent if we're not on the front foot with planning, recruitment, messaging and execution.

Who died and made you king? I’ll wait for the club to decide on these matters before making any comments, I love Goody and the hard work he’s put into the club.

I am king of none.

Just a guy with an opinion.

At some point the club will have a new coach, Goodwin isn't going to be the coach forever.

I'm of the same belief @In Harmes Way but if things continue to go south and you throw a loss to Essendon, Richmond and a 70 or 80 pointer before the bye in there then the club will have no choice im affraid.

In theory I agree ...he's our only living premiership coach. But what if we're 0-12? I mean do we let this year progress from bad to terrible under his guidance? If we get to even 3-9 I think he might see it through...but in your opinion in a worst case scenario of 0-12 or even 1- 11 does he remain.

If we were 0-12 I think plenty would be gone.

I like every Dees fan, is hoping we start a winning sequence this saturday.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion mate. If you can't handle any critique of Goodwin's coaching then maybe this thread isn't for you.

Goody won’t be sacked during the season, it ain’t happening.

He might not see out his last year, which will be a “mutual” decision of course.

I cannot see him lasting to the bye if we are 0-7 in a few weeks.

The chance that the best candidate played for MFC, is 1 in 18. Consider the criticism of Nathan Jones. And Schwab, Chris Connoly, etc.

Yeah someone younger who has an attacking mindset, I can't watch this slow boring [censored] anymore, North have been a better team to watch than us.

Goodwin has one coaching style and he has refused to change it for years.

We are boring, we won't get crowds to watch this crud but we will be stuck with him cos the club loves him and they won't sack him.

We won a flag with boring Defence always wins flags

Listening to Jones commentary was enough for me to know he was cut out to be a coach.

I think Simon Goodwin will be elsewhere in 2026. Especially if we continue losing.

Updated list of potential coaching candidates for the new Demons coach.

1) John Longmire (top candidate)

2) Cameron Bruce (return of the prodigal son)

3) Justin Leppitsch (wants a 2nd chance of coaching an AFL side)

4) Adam Simpson (West Coast Eagles Premiership coach from 2018)

5) Corey Enright (highly credentialed assistant coach at St. Kilda)

6) Ken Hinkley (will be looking for a new job once his tenure at Port Power finishes at the emd of this year)

7) Luke Beveridge (may get sacked if Bulldogs miss the finals)

8) Nathan Buckley (if he misses out on the Tasmanian Devils job)

9) Leon Cameron (if he wants to coach an AFL team again perhaps?)

10) James Hird (if we are absolutely desperate and can't get anyone else)

That article in the Age about Longmire last weekend talked about he's enjoying developing his new training coaching business associated with the Swans. It also talked about how he was enjoying spending time with his children and travelling. It didn't sound like a fella who'd be in a hurry to move interstate and reverse commute to Casey fields.

I think you’re confusing boring with Excellent.

Nothing boring about our Grand Final performance nor the vast majority of the 2021 season.

The problem is we haven’t been able get anywhere close to that level for the last couple of years.

Would an Outdated, over exposed and hackney game style have anything to do with it?

PJ got Roos from a similar situation.

people are really underestimate how much of a problem casey is for the club no serious coach will want to do that, we will be suck with some tool like hinkley, should have just sucked it up and bought waverley park for the time being

Hinkley buckley and Hird should not be let near the club in any capacity

If Goody leaves , and doesn’t get another footy job, is he qualified to work in another profession?

Except comments like the one below aren’t critiques, they’re nasty insults. Therefore this thread isn’t for the posters of such.

Could be a teacher

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion and in this case the opinions are on Goody as our coach. Folks who believe he should be replaced may have very good reasons for formulating this opinion and many of them express their opinion in a respectful way. Then there’s the ones who post “Goodwin’s a moron. End of story.” and “Goodwin is [censored], always has been, utter rubbish.” It’s not hard to be respectful and sensitive, it’s really not. And it’s not a huge ask.

I’d hate to see this awesome site reduced to a small group of bitter and nasty belligerents, but that’s where it’s headed.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.
