Dangerous pun territory.

As a matter of interest, Demonland's opening post is coming up blank on my screen. Is anyone else having the same problem?

Yeah pretty much all my Demonland imported quotes and articles are blank for me but I blame my phone.  Works fine on laptop

I've now read the article on the Port website. Why do people churlishly assume from what's been made public that Hinkley is being moved on by Port? That analysis doesn't make sense to me. Surely, if Port wanted Hinkley gone, they would have done that before the end of 2024. I think it far more likely to be exactly what Port says it is: a well organised succession plan. I hope it works. The AFL world would be a much better place if most clubs organised succession plans the way Port seems to have done in this instance. It's much better than radical overhauls where a new coach comes in and dumps the former assistants.

I liked Hinkers, good everyman kind of coach.

I don't think they will be winning it this year, finals maybe.

I agree. I think his list has some serious holes which he tried to plug but overall made the best of it. And he was not anodyne like some. Very much heart on his sleeve which I like.

i think hinkley will be looked back on by pear supporters as neale daniher was for us - he's achieved everything except for making a grand final, and united the club

Neale Daniher made a GF ... 2000.

Port need to stand by Ken for the full season regardless of results. I think it’s smart play. They move Ken on who’s clearly had his opportunity and they get to quell the noise if Port struggle this year.

“We have a succession plan in place and we’re standing by Ken until his contract is up”

The newspaper headline says:

"Millionaire Sanjeev Gupta pulls rug out from under David Koch over Port order new guernseys to ditch GFG logo". Err, what?

Hope they have a succession plan for their major sponsors.

It's a Twitter/X issue. Happens every now and then.

Also can occur if you use Ad Blockers on this website which you should definitely not do.

i've found that when i get the blank entry, if i click on the blank part it then appears

Hopefully Port are able to find a new major sponsor soon enough.

Not so long ago it was us that had to deal with the EnergyWatch debacle.

Yes, but only after they get their delivery of sponsorless guernseys thst they will then have to replace.

No point getting new ones when they already have several for each player, they will just heat press over it with a new sponsor or plain black and white

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
