Really only McVee as a major loss from that list. Some good players in 20-28 but could be a lot worse

Good to see Hore is a test

Andy Moniz-Wakefield (knee)

If Milkshake gets up and about this year given all his injuries past and present, it will be a phenomenal effort.

And I will add, a much needed one.

At his best he is an absolute gun but he has always seemed to struggle to keep his form constant and play a string of many great games.

I still believe his injury against the Swans cost us a flag.

Yea, he's one player but he was in career best form when he went down in an already what was then  a much depleted fwd line.

Jake Lever - underwent a knee arthroscope and shoulder surgery in the off-season, is tracking well and is entering into his final month of rehab. He will be in a modified environment after the Christmas break and is expected to be in full training by the end of January.

Seems to be really struggling with his body.

A bloke that has always gone exceptionally hard at the comp and seems to unfortunately be paying the price.

I had to see a wrist surgeon about an operation recently and I asked about rehab. When she said, 'Four to six weeks' a chill went through me.

*Bizarre injury strikes again
Premiership defender Steven May was a late out for the Dees, with club officials confirming the two-time All Australian had fractured his larynx in an incident at training on Friday. Freakishly, May becomes the second Demon to suffer the injury in a matter of months, with captain Max Gawn suffering the same injury late last year. Gawn took six weeks to recover, however Melbourne believes May's injury is not as serious. May was replaced in the starting line-up by swingman Tom McDonald.

So we had 10 players out, 9 of whom have played senior footy for us.

Is that the spider bite rearing its head again?

Didn't Windsor miss a few weeks of preseason with a foot infection?

Would welcome a medico giving some insight into why this would take so long to heal then come back again some weeks later.

Hopefully it isn't like Oliver's infected foot in 2023 that just went on and on and landed him in hospital.

Sheesh!  Don't antibiotics work any more 🤷‍♀️

We need some luck on the injury front!!🙏

First of all I’m not an expert but Spider fangs have all sorts of nasties venom or not. They can result in necrosis and in severe cases amputation of the affected limb.

Hopefully it doesn’t resort to that but some bite related infections  can hang around for a long time.

Thanks.  I hadn't seen it reported as a spider bite ... not that it would mean much to me.

Necrosis and amputation is dead set scary - hope he looks after himself.

I'm not a religious person by any means, but I think I might go to a church and pray for his sole.   It's worth a try.

Geeez we always seem to have a number of top 22 players missing

Whenever I look at other teams injury lists they have a list of players that I’ve hardly heard of

Surely we are due for some luck on the injury front soon

Marty Hore back on the injury list is disappointing. Poor guy can't seem to catch a break.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
