Why are you acting like the player should be telling random fans they're leaving? I don't blame him for lying, it is what he would be told to do by his manager.

The only players that say there going to move are the ones chasing more money from their club,eg,Viney and Pickett

I don’t expect to get a good return at all for McVee given he’s out of contract. If Geelong gave the Dogs pick 17 for this year’s third best player of the year in the out of contract Bailey Smith, how on earth can we expect anything better than pick 35 for a player that largely stunk it up this year (albeit McVee was very good in 2023 and 2024)

Looking now like a real step back year (next year) assuming Trac and May also depart.

I don't think we can step back much further. I disagree that we will go backwards next year. That is of course determined by how we use the capital we receive in exchange for the players you mnetioned. Tracc stays unless its a very attractive offer. The same with May, but his departure concerns me less, knowing that Disco, Petty, T mac, Adams can all assume the defensive role. We are a huge watch this off season. We must make changes to improve, but must also bring in talent...not usless 2nd and 3rd round picks in a [censored] draft

What stage of grief is burning effigies? I'm guessing the first.

Without looking at his contract status, I would love to go after Kiddy Coleman from Brisbane as a replacement.

Some posters on here seem to be wanting us to not win a game next year.

If only you weren’t a female poster hey 🙄

Don’t pull the female card, it’s beneath you. Plenty of those posters are referring to Ghosty as ‘mate’ and ‘bloke’; I think they’re oblivious to her gender. Lucif gets it too.

Lemme know when you get to violent rioting. The streets of Casey will be bedlam.

Yup, him or Q from Collingwood.

I’ve been here long enough to know which posters have serious problems and tend to pick on female posters. It’s very obvious.

You don’t think the post referring to it being a “gal thing” to feel betrayed by a player is misogynistic?

It’s fine not to agree, but the absolute garbage that Ghosty cops compared to others who post information and rumours, is very very obvious.

I love everyone who comes here with info. Hell I’m here for the riddler at trade time. But if one poster gets so much vitriol thrown at them, and the only difference between said poster and others is her gender, then I think it’s fair to say that there is a level of misogyny going on.

Especially when said poster contributes so positively not only to Demonland but the club itself!

As one of the first and few female posters on here, it’s very disheartening to see some of the rubbish written towards her.

Contracted til the end of 27 apparently 😞

Unless we move a genuine big fish and place ourselves in the very top handful of picks, surely this draft is mostly about White, Sinnema, and the Cat B rookie whose name I've forgotten. Possibly even Yze Jr at the very back end.

Eight(?) players out already, being a mix of young players who never quite got there, and recycled players who never quite got there. May would make it nine and be a variation on the theme.

Couple of 'AFL grade but depth' players coming into the recycled churn, though these seem more based on evidence than the mere hope of some of our recent acquisitions, and perhaps Flanders at a much higher price.

How is this a McVee post? Hmm, I guess I'm just mentally mixing his apparent departure with a bigger picture of a major list turnover.

Who knows, it could all boil down to being reduced to depth behind Salem, Flanders, Rivers, Lindsay and Windsor, with the prospect of 2026 free agents like Butters and Walsh making the 'tall running midfield and halfback' even more crowded.

If King wants to make that our A-grade aspect, McVee isn't good enough at that, and if McVee doesn't want to be boxed into the mid-sized hard defender role, yep, he'd want to move.

Put another way, perhaps McVee wants to be 2017 all-Australian Micheal Hibberd, but the club wants him to be 2021 premiership Michael Hibberd.

Thank you, let me put it this way, as a adult male I would not be asking one of our female players what is a personal question and if I did I would not expect a straight answer from them before an announcement has been made.

Besides I wonder what Judds side of the conversation is, how was it put, exactly what he said. Ive signed, I am signed (2025) . Did he say, I have signed to the MFC for 2026.

With Answerth and Dodee back next year and maybe only Starcevich leaving from his position and with money needed for Draper and Allen, he could be a chance if he wants a better contract.

Not too many are leaving there though.

If I'm not mistake you've been saying Judd was leaving for a while.

Any chance you can rename yourself to optimistic dee and start telling us who's coming to the club? If you could start with Butters that would be great.

Many thanks.

That's what was reported

More like he only was willing to sign a 2 year.

I am sure the club would offer 4 years of they truly believed he was a key piece of our future.

Broke into the team midway through the year then did a really nasty shoulder injury that kept him out. I watched one of his games before that and he looked pretty good off half back. Apparently a new role for him this year after being tried half forward for a while.

Contracted until 2027 though so would be a separate trade from Judd.

Thanks, forgot about the shoulder injury.

Doesn't necessarily have to be a separate trade but both Simpson and Freo have to green light it which makes it very unlikely.

Judd was given a life line by the Dees and to be fair he made the most of it by getting super fit. Score is level.

I am not a great fan and I thought he played like a Dudd (see what I did here) so am neither here nor there on his leaving.

Next.

Come on, take ya tin foil hat off. He was also one of only 7 Dees that polled votes, guess the ump were in on it as well.

He our best score involvement defender after rivers for the year, second most rebound 50s, he went at 81.41% disposal efficacy, Most contested marks besides the key Def, 21st in the AFL for goal assists per game and 16th in the AFL for effective disposals. He had a great year and is a whipping boy on here.

He was rarely beaten and I think you just highlight the times he is, rather than the good moments which outweighed them. I guess we will never know the "what if with Judd" and I think he was a good player but hoping with this pick we can make it better.

If we get 29, we will have 23, 29 and sounds like 37(Spargo). Rich are open to splitting 2&3 and GC have 6, 13 &16 with academy kids. If King thinks we can get back to finals and has everyone believing this I can see us trying to get 3 off rich with a future first plus two of the second-round picks. Which I am all for!

Brownlow votes because he’s a high possession player. He did have a few great games, was mostly ok but he has a few stinkers as well and generally just looked pretty close to the end. Multiple things can be true at once.

Maybe a new coach and a new fitness standards can help he regain the lost step. It does happen, but not often.

I don’t care for his disposal efficiency when he didn’t make a risky choice all year.

A 3 for 1 deal with the state of our list would be a stinker unless we absolutely nail the pick. If anything after doing so many trade ups we need to be doing 1 for 3’s the other way.

If it is I'm not sure what I 'get' but I'm taking it as a compliment 😄

Wow! What a surprise! The dazzling one is gloating. Going to the trouble of trawling through previous posts to quote me. Would’ve been quicker and easier to just say “nya nya nya you were wrong.” which is the sentiment here. You really are a spiteful person. Step back and take a good look at yourself and you’ll see how childish you are.

Not only am i not gloating to you but you have completely misinterpreted my post where I pretty much explained that it was evidently clear that the McVee camp played the footy club to their terms privately to the point where its completely caught people off guard especially the powers to be at the footy club.

How am I being childish?? Maybe look back to some of your earlier response in this thread to the way you would respond to others that clearly had doubts on whether Judd would stay.

This right here typifies exactly what a childish response looks like.

I quite liked the look of Simpson in the small bits I've seen of him. Only played the 3 games this year though so obviously has some limitations or flaws to his game. Perhaps @Pennant St Dee might have a better idea on if he's an ideal target and how he's looked at wafl level?

He’d be a good get and replacement for Judd, improving our ball movement off halfback. He’s highly rated by Freo and not sure they’ll let him go, they will also likely be chasing Bobby Hill

Well, you’ve been a Demonlander for quite a few years and quite likely a ‘lurker’ more than a ‘poster’, so I’d say there’s a good chance you knew that Ghostwriter was female… and even if I’m wrong with that, you most certainly knew Ghostwriter's gender before you made your “must be a gal thing” post, so there was no mistaking who that comment was directed at.

Can’t be bothered driving to Casey, just like the rest of the team… can we do it closer?

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
