Farewell Judd McVee

Pick 11 for Rivers is a flat no. What a joke!

I'd take pick 11 for McVee if they want. Any time they wanted to talk about Rivers I'd just keep bringing up Jacko (as a wind up). Rivers not going anyway!

Yes, that someone has to eventually use

And be left with the player that you don’t want but couldn’t move ‘the currency’

One player on our list comes to mind immediately

Or is used in conjunction with 'whatever' in a trade for an "understood" ability.

Many ways to use a pick.

Yes but it inevitably has to be used and thus makes its value nought at some point

Hmmm..... will he , won't he ? 🤔

You'd imagine that signature will come soon now that we have a coach locked in.

Unrelated to Judd, there were a few whispers on Tuesday night that we are trying to get back into the top 10 of the draft. Targeting 2 players.

How that gets done or if it’s realistic is anyone’s guess.

No news = gone

Does his Lordship deem timing be appropriate to grace us with his decision now?

Not wrapped in that comment. None of us know why there is a delay. There must be very valid reasons in either McVee's mind or the Club's. Let's wait to find out why before we ridicule Judd.

Has three options (Melbourne, Franchise, ??). Was waiting on the coach

I would actually reduce his options to two.

Stay or go.

Siberian gulag or head west with pick 11 back

See ya later pal / chief

Sure, but then he walks to West Coast for nothing in the PSD. Hardly a win for us.

The draft is a bit chancy for him. The selections and hence destination club, in the 10 - 20 range change minute by minute on the night.

Sounds like Judd’s been telling a few porky pies to track watchers

Hey Ghosty ,still feeling comfortable????

Was Juddy at the B and F night?

That might or might not be a clue to this going on. Also no news from our Exit interviews thst he had asked For a trade assuming contract discussions might have been on the agenda also.

99% of players requesting trades attend their clubs bnf.

He was there.

Most do it at the exit meeting.

He'll be one of the first players Kingy reaches out to

I hope he stays but i'm not too enamoured with the way he has gone about this contract negotiation

Guerra gave Buckley short shrift when he equivocated. I think its time now for Judd to decide. Stay on the bus or get off.

Agreed. Pick 11 for Judd and couple that with F1 to move into the top few picks.

Josh Lindsay would be my perfect upgrade on McVee rated as ‘best kick in this draft”. May not be there at Pick 11 though.

We need these types of players and while we all thought McVee was good with the odd cameo here and there. He is no HBF that can slice open teams and cause havoc on the rebound. Lindsay is. Geelong Falcons boy so no doubt would have a level of familiarity with King.

No one is giving us 11 for an uncontracted McVee, be serious people. Early second is the best we can get.

King has to go pitch him on moving up the ground in a Geelong style game plan that sees the ball shared quickly and skilfully that suits Judd. Give me 2 years and I’ll have you as the next Max Holmes is the message I’d sell if I was King.

Don't disagree, but I'm hoping that Windsor is the next Max Holmes

Agree, Freo will offer pick 29, which may end up pick 35 and a swap of 3rd round picks. Not sure how he's conned ghosty that he is re-signing, its dragged on far too long.

Forum members: Windhager is a jet, but only worth a late second rounder.

Also forum members: McVee is a solid contributor, he’s not even that good. But pick 11 will become 15. We need more than that.

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
