At Sunday’s match during the first quarter our bay was abuzz upon hearing Guerra was sitting somewhere amongst us. Folks were inconspicuously glancing around etc. trying to see if he really was there.

At the quarter time break a member of the DA who’s not backward in coming forward went a-hunting for him. She found him, introduced herself, welcomed him to our cheer squad then gave him one piece of advice, that being… if you wanna succeed at our club you need to forget Essendon exists. “Essendon is now dead to you,” she said firmly. “I trust we understand one another,” she added almost menacingly.

We, oh I mean they both laughed; she, heartily and he, nervously.

He said he’s resolutely and unwaveringly committed to the Demons so she spared him any further discomfort.

I think he appreciated her honesty. That, or he’s scared sch!ttless of her.

Did he look you in the eye ??

No, he blinked a lot as he spoke though.

He had no choice. Hard to not look someone in the eye when they’re all up in your grill.

Was he wearing a blue suit? I could have sworn I was sitting near him on level 1 in the MCC early in the first quarter. Didn't want to annoy him.

Nor did I

But I did anyways 😜

He was wearing a blue suit. I’m sure he blended in while in the MCC but he stood out like dog’s proverbials in the cheer squad. If the suit didn’t give him away the wavy bouffant did.

Geez your hatred for Ess......... has no depth. That conversation hopefully might put them off from looking at Hird as our next coach🤮 We know what influence you have at the Club!!

I listened to him on 3AW and agree he was excellent

I wish Paul Guerra all the best as the new Demons CEO.

Has he started early? It's still only August.

Nevertheless...he has ALOT to do.

But as we all keep saying the number 1# priority is getting our Home Base built at the Caulfield Racecourse!

Six to eight coaching candidates will be assessed (implicitly, but not explicitly, by the panel). One or two recommendations will be taken to the board. Before preliminary final weekend.

Clearly, yes, from the 3AW interview, in everything but name - e.g. was an equal partner in the Goodwin decision with his acting counterpart.

At least he's hit the ground running. 6 months after they said he would. Fantastic.

Yeah I saw him tonight in the members to. He seemed obliging to stop & talk to people

He came down to our bay at one point and sought me out. He wanted to meet Ryan, our awesome chant-leader who was in the same row. Ryan was busy waving a giant flag (we had just kicked a goal so there was bedlam with giant everythings waving about) so he said, “Please tell Ryan I said hello” and he turned to leave. I said, “Paul! Come in and sit with us!” The poor thing looked horrified 🤣

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
