The proposed MFC HQ is not in the middle of the race track. It is on the outside of the track accessed from Booran Rd.

Dear Members,

I’m thrilled to share some exciting news. After a comprehensive nationwide search, the Melbourne Football Club begins an exciting new chapter today with the appointment of Paul Guerra as Chief Executive Officer.

We set out to secure the best possible leader for our future and we have found that person in Paul. 

Paul is a highly respected CEO with a proven track record of results in member organisations. His vast experience and deep business connections, people-first approach and alignment with our values make him the standout choice. The Board will fully resource and empower Paul to ensure our football programs and all aspects of the Club are fully supported to drive our next phase of growth.

Paul joins the Club from his current role as CEO of the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he delivered strategic growth, strengthened stakeholder relationships and fostered a high-performance culture.

I’d like to recognise and thank David Chippindall, for guiding the Club with authenticity and composure during this period. He is an exceptional leader and a highly valued member of our executive team, who has led with care and diligence while serving as Interim CEO. 

Paul will hit the ground running and Members will have opportunities to hear directly from him very soon.

I just had a look and if the track is to connect Cheltenham and Clayton stations it would actually go through Heatherton as the crow flies which is a little further to the west but with no station planned there (for now at least).

If he can handle the chamber of secrets that should prepare him well for our club

More like 50 years. 5 years is only for projects that require 5 or 6 years of work. SRL is a 50 year long project.

Melbourne have appointed Victorian businessman Paul Guerra as their CEO after a protracted search to replace Gary Pert.

Guerra has been the CEO of the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for five years and a director at Racing Victoria.

From the Motorola implosion to private consultants world to the Queen Vic market to the Royal Show to the chamber of commerce … a compelling candidate

A bit of an unexpected appointment.

But hopefully he is up to the challenge that is the Melbourne Football Club.

Gotta change his red and black ties to red and blue ones now (seeing as he is or was an Essendon supporter).

Reminds of the Paul Macnamee appointment! Why would we want to appoint anyone with A CEO Football background??? Hope I’m wrong but I can see this going pear shape!

The competition sources said Guerra is a strong strategic thinker with good people skills. The club believes they can bring him up to speed on football.

Agree home base has to be nailed! But a CEO role covers all aspects of the footy dept which this guy has had zero exposure & understanding, will he understand strong culture in footy clubs what it looks like Eg Peter Jackson come in & fixed things fast as he had great insights etc etc.. hope I’m wrong but…..

A little underwhelming but I wish him luck.

The right business and political contacts are far more important for a CEO than AFL experience as such.

Instead of prejudging Paul Guerra, I would suggest waiting to see what he brings to the club.

Surely it's pragmatic to appoint someone who has racing industry links over someone who is going to potentially rock the boat with some of the stakeholders due to an issue that has nothing to do with football.
