I really have no idea and IJTWT, but of the feasible combos Tauru and Armstrong would be most amusing just to read the resulting massive melts on here.

It was say a lot about the club’s confidence in Trac and Clarry staying and getting back to their best imho

Yeah it will be real amusing when we only  have a midfield of Rivers, Sparrow, Laurie and Woey's kid in a couple of years 😂

Well, in that disaster scenario - we would have traded CO13 and CP5 for assets that could bolster that cohort.

I am all for getting 2 mids but let’s not kid ourselves about the ease of which you can get Oliver and Petracca level talents.

I'm going quietly mad waiting on this as well as waiting on some big news for myself, so as a procrastination from this procrastination, I was musing to myself about where we would take our current list if they were 18 year olds. Even knowing how their career has progressed. I wonder about not only 'draft our list in order' but also 'slot them into the current draft'.

Cue the Trac v Gawn pick 1 debate. I'm 100% Gawn, myself.

Norths list manager said they believe pick one is down to 2 at this stage. I assumed it Lalor and FOS he was talking about.
At start of this thread I went for

5- Langford

9-Lindsay

I’ll stick with those two and think we will match a bid late on for Andrew.
I did notice Lindsay got a couple of mentions on gettable today. Cal said he’s one of a few in the mix at 9 and JT mentioned he had been very good at looking after Ricky Mentha down at Gippsland.

Tauru, Lindsay and Mentha all Gippsland Power boys. Hmmmm👀

Lalor is the obvious gun player for #1, then it’s a lottery. I think Draper goes to Blues or Crows. Both would be quickly snapped by Dees if available but I think it’s unlikely.

‪In order of preference ‬
At “5”‪… Langford or FOS or Smith
At “9”…‪Travaglia or Allan or Lindsay

‪Mids mids mids ‬

Draft day!

My order of preferred outcomes, based on the rumoured candidates for our picks -

1. Langford and Tauru

2. Langford and Allan

3. Tauru and Allan

4a. Langford and Lindsey

4b. Tauru and Lindsey

Go Dees.

This must be how quantum physicists feel, waiting for their wavefunction to collapse.

I think I'll go with three preferences for each pick, since the availability is so unpredictable.

5. Langford, Draper, Smith

9. Tauru, Lindsay, Smillie.

I also suspect something interesting might happen with our late pick. Maybe even a trade-up into the 30s for a slider JT believes in.

You mentioned you were waiting on some big news then mention a wave function

are you doing some sort of experimental analysis in unified theory of physics or similar ? 👀👀🕵🏻🕵🏻

There'll be a world where we pick each of them, it all depends which one "you" end up in.

If we can't get Smith, I'd love Langford. If we can't get Allan, I'd be happy with Hynes. Might be a reach for Cooper though.

i have absolutely no idea re the kids, but based on what i've been reading for the last couple of months i would quite like two players who play in multiple premierships for the mfc

seven would be good

in a row

starting next season

no pressure

I would reach for him. Langford, Allan and Hines are the ones that stand out to me of those that would be available. Smith looks bright too but the bigger bodies are not going anywhere the next 10 years. Footy is increasingly returning to what you can do out of a stoppage - powering out of it with strength at the front of the contest and competing 1:1 is how games will be decided.

There's some nervous energy today and frankly, I feel like a young child on Christmas morning. I have a list of wants but I'm not sure exactly what I'll be receiving.

I've posted about this a couple of times before, but in my own (nuffie) opinion, I really think we should be taking two midfielders. Yes, the forward line is still a concern and frankly, it appears to be something reminiscent of a  haphazard construction site for the most part, but we have a veryvery good opportunity to get some high level midfield talent and set us up for the next decade.

We've lost Lachie Hunter, ANB, Gus and Jordon; while I wouldn't contend that any of them were full-time / staring mids over the course of the last 24 months, they all added to our midfield rotation and provided impetus when required. Moving onto Oliver and Petracca, we don't exactly know where they'll be in 12 months time, both from an on-field perspective and from an output perspective (personally, I'm confident Oliver will be a the Dees as it stands; I'm no where near as certain on Petracca). Even assuming that both the aforementioned are with the Dees and have returned to their lofty levels, Petracca will be 29 before the season starts, Oliver 28 mid way through the season, and Viney 31 in April. While we'll still get some good football out of each of them, we really don't have the 'next wave' coming through like we need.

As noted earlier, I can understand some of the angst around the forward and I agree some of it is warranted. But, and this is where I'm leaning on how I think the Club partially views things, is that we have a young brigade coming through the forward ranks that are capable of delivering, in time. JvR, Turner and Petty (although I note he's reportedly been training with the backs), along with Jefferson waiting in the wings, are likely viewed as viable options to take us forward.

None of this is ground-breaking and I'm not pertaining to have some level of granular insight in the microcosm of our list, just how I see things and I think we'd be very remiss remiss to not take the best two mids available.

And as you already know, rpfc, it's not a reach if you think he's the best player for the club/list when the pick comes.

Just because the 'expert media' see it as a reach, doesn't mean it is. Although we all know optics is important, actual outcomes are even more so.

I think we should take one each of the mids and forwards package and both sections will be set for this year and partially 3/4 years.

Trading and drafting next year can add good quality extras hopefully to our spine and engine room.

Yeah, look - I wouldn't say I'm totally opposed to taking a tall. At the start of the year my ideal scenario was actually us getting Luke Trainor. I just get the feeling that the club has faith in a current set up and by all reports, Jefferson has added on a lot of size. In my initial post I also forgot to reference Kenterfield, though he's far more speculative than the previous group (including Jefferson).

I have a late feeling Draper might be on the cards — By context if Adel take Langford..

I know consensus is Tauru, but I don’t entirely buy it so think that this is worth noting..

If we walk away with Langford/Lindsey I think it’s a good night — despite concerns on Langford’s speed in coming round on him.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
