The announcement of the 2025 AFL fixture imminent. You can tell that it’s not far off when you hear leaks about more Thursday night matches, an extra game this season for Geelong at the Cattery and clubs selling their home games. From Melbourne’s point of view, one of the advantages of finishing so low on the ladder should be a favourable  draw. However, after seeing how the club was stitched up by this year’s AFLW fixture, I have my doubts. Let’s see.

The AFLW fixture has to be the biggest joke the afl as an organisation has come up with.

Hawthorn sit in 2nd and will only end up playing 3 of the top 8 from 11 games. Of the other 8 games, 4 were against the bottom 5 teams.

If we also look at Brisbane, their main competitor for the McLelland trophy, they are the reigning premiers and will only play 2 games against top 8 sides!

Compare that to us, we will end up playing 7 of our 11 games against the top 8 and only 2 v the bottom 5 sides.

Don’t assume anything we will get screwed by the afl as per usual.
I think it’s in their mission statement.

If I  am betting man I would think we will get a lot of Sunday and late afternoon Sunday games because we play such attractive football and the AFL hate us.

Agreed.  Get ready for Saturday 4:35pm games, Sunday 1.10pm and Sunday 3:20pm. Very few Friday or Saturday night games.  It’s the interstate scheduling and short turnaround games that will probably be the horror show for us.

AFL fixture priorities:

1. $$$$$$$$$$$$$

2.$$$$$$$$$$$$$

3.$$$$$$$$$$$$$

4. Geelong (feels like they have major influence that means) 9/10 cat park 7/8 at either G/Marvel minimal interstate

5. Collingwood enough said

6. Carlton enough said

Guaranteed Last.      Dregs. Melbourne, North, Dogs, Saints

I love my night games but I’ll have a one year old next year so I’d low key be okay with day games.
He is obsessed with the Melbourne theme song and it also calms him down during a crying fit so would love for him to hear it at the games. Hopefully at the end of the game also!

That is the burning 🔥 question Ds.

Someone over at Bigfooty who reckons he nailed round 1 last year prior to the fixture release reckons we’ve got North round 1, Sunday 4pm at the G.

Given the fixture won’t be released until the final week of November, I’d take it with a grain of salt.

A lot of Demons fans like to have the victim mentality that we always get screwed over when in reality half a dozen teams would have killed for our fixture last year

Oooh the Tom Campbell Cup!

Suck it North, we got our man!

We were less than 1% from finishing 12th, which would have seen us in the middle-six play-twice group with WBulldogs, Carlton, Collingwood, Fremantle and Essendon. At 14th we score Gold Coast, Adelaide, West Coast, North and Richmond.

So, looking to the far end of 2025, we might have dodged final-round bullets in Collingwood (again!), Carlton or Freo away. But let me be the first to pessimistically predict we get Adelaide, away...

We played poorly last year and will receive a fixture worthy of that with limited prime time games. We need to take advantage of a potential easier draw as we still have the talent to be a top 4 team.

From a self interest perspective Thursday night games are hard for interstate members to travel to. So much easier to just take the Friday or the Monday off and make a long weekend of it rather than having to take the 2 days off.

Despite being adamant we wouldn’t be welcome back to opening round due to our horrid year, it’s not 100% ruled out that we won’t be playing that weekend like I thought it would be.

It would either be Sydney, GWS or GC if we were to play that weekend.

You're a traveller, BA? Kudos to you, then, and all the other travellers (special shout-out to The Army). Best wishes for a good travel fixture.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
