Good luck to him.

Back when it was rumoured he was leaving I rang the Club to complain because I thought he was one of our best tall defenders despite the occasional brain fade.

I was told not to worry because Oscar McDonald was improving & he & Tomlinson provided adequate cover.

I was & still am very sorry to have lost him. I think he wanted 3 years & we only offered 2.

You rang the club to complain?

Steven May joined us prior to 2019 and Lever prior to 2018 and you called the club to complain?

He's in a better place.

He should enjoy it

Don’t reckon he will be in the 22 next year with Barrass and Battle coming in

I wonder if Frosty was coming into the system now, if he would have been modelled on a Blicsavs type utility. Great speed for his size yet was only really ever used predominantly as a backman.

His problem was always, the gap between his best and worst was too big. Haven’t watched many hawks games so not sure if that’s still the case.

Are we trading or drafting Frost back to the club?

Football aside, Frosty was greatly appreciated, no - actually loved - and a very fast runner, powerful tackler with a mind of his own to enhance the team; not too many other players caught the bug he offered, but he had wonderful ears to listen to their points of view. He'd be a killer player down at Casey; highly enthusiastic about new styles of the game we sometimes get a little bored with and thus, a light on the horizon of hopes and prayers for Mr Unstoppable.

I’m sure you are right Deemania. My point is why is this being discussed on a draft and trading board?

For me, I shudder at the term 'brain fade/s' when it comes to Frosty. His enthusiasm for the game was unbridled and that worked wonders with 'hope springs eternal' - even when a catastrophic outcome presented. For me, he was more entertaining that Jacko (Mark) due to his sheer exuberance.  Someone must be thinking that he has improved as a footballer and has considered re-enlisting the Mighty Frost to the Manor, I guess. It just makes me smile thinking of his fearless game.

He was a good lad Frosty. Gave his all. I wish him well in the finals (but not the Hawks).

I don't miss the small heart attacks he induced in me though.

Love Frosty.
Couldn’t exist in the same backline as May though.
If only he had some guidance in those formative years instead of oranges. I think Weddle could have become Frosty#2 if it wasn’t for a stern hand.

Lol, of course you liked Sam Frost.

Typical intelligent response.

You might reflect that it's actually possible to applaud intelligent decisions and criticise faulty ones.

May & Lever were great but when I'm told Frost is no loss because we've got Oscar McD I seriously wonder about their judgement.

And I would suggest that history has judged me & Frost to be correct.

Go James Harmes

My Hawks mates were moaning big time about Frosty, but Sam Mitchell really smoothed him out, is definitely a feather in his coaching gap, the redemption of Frost (i loved his heart but not his execution to be clear). That he busted his foot is just bloody horrible.

Moved him on for a reason. Culture killer. End of.

That's complete BS. We didn't move him on we only offered him 2 years & Hawks offered 3.

Check out his 2018 stats - he had a very good year & was one of our best defenders.

Whatever you want to tell yourself.

I know what I know.

Went last week and saw the best and worst of the Frost man.
Wish him well this week.

Wonder how he'll go next year once Barrass and Battle are in the squad

You know he is injured and out for the rest of the season right?

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
