I reckon Jackson coming back is still a big watch. His press conference was done just to shut down the noise. He was told to say the right thing so they could focus on the season.

If Freo had been smarter they would have kept Lloyd Meek instead of trading for Jackson. Ditto trading for Hogan & hanging on to Lachie Neale might have been an idea.

They got unlucky with Hogan

If Kozzy can put in another 3-4 performances like that (4+ goals) across the rest of the year and another 4-5 games with 2-3 goals and 20+ disposals, not only will he make his first AA but Freo will have to part way with a premium hand…

I’m talking LJ and 2x 1st round picks. Don’t forget LJs contract will be significant so his net value will only be equivalent to a single first rounder.

He is a good ruckman that has failed to reach the heights we thought he was capable of…

Too many feathers in Peter Bell's hat

Nothing to do with "unlucky".

They are obsessed with luring back high profile West Australians & it often blows up in their face or is poor value for $$ ie

Des Headland, Harley Bennell, Jesse Hogan & the Col Sylvia trade was also a disaster

Do you really think that the WA clubs are going to just offer him a 2-3 year deal?

He's going to be offered the world. This is just how it is for elite players now.

Agree, whist I fully understand what Redleg is getting at the player in most cases will always take the money.

He was a gun who had a massive personal crisis hit him as soon as he got to the club. It's pretty unlucky.

Ironic that you should mention Peter Bell because early on in Freos entry they traded away Jeff Farmer, Mathew Lloyd & Scott Lucas as well as letting Andrew McLeod slip through their fingers. Then they let Bell go after a handful of games & he became a champion at North.

Almost as poor trading as Footscray in the 1970's.

Charged yet again by the MRP. Third time in five games.

Although it was only umpire contact it’s getting a bit silly now.

I get the feeling the MRP is on his case every match.

Given the recent coat-hanger that got four weeks I reckon KP'S report must be worth five.

why any player would go 'home' to flagmantle beggars belief - they are continuously mediocre, at best

“Flagmantle” 🤨

They had to get rid of him and Hoges will tell you himself it wasn’t a good move coming home. A lot more maturity now

Seems downright impossible if he hits his triggers though. Contracted till 2031 would make him worth more than Kozzie.

Apparently Michael Frederick might be on the out if they lure Kozzie home. I think he'd be worth a look. Super fast, great overhead, and great shot at goal. Think he can be a much better player than he is on the dockers. They don't use him well enough.

nothing is impossible these days i don't think

if kozi truly does want to go to wa, then we should be looking to strike the best bargain we can for ourselves - can't see that not including the likes of dog jackson returning 'home' to the mfc

Depends how much they want Kozzy

I've never once seen him lose his calm. He has a bad habit of bumping and that is literally it.

It matters, it needs correcting, but it is not some kind of personality defect.

we were picked to get him when harvey was projected 1 and lalor 2

Would love if we got him. He’s probably ahead for the riding start at the minute. Had a great start to his AFL career.

Might make sense too. Bolton and Kossie both play a similar role, splitting their time between forward and the middle with licence to roam. Need role players around those types of players not sure Reid is a role player.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
