Doubts the Blues would give 3 + 8 and still pay him $1mill+ for the next 5 years. We'd be paying him $300k pa for that to be possible.

They don't have a good Trac record for brining in highly touted players only to watch them become injury prone bench warmers eg. Martin, Williams

Can't see it happening.

Would they consider Clarry?

(ducks head...)

Given how much cap space we have, I would happily, happily pay $300 k a year and probably more to get those two picks in the door. Happily

True but they could just draft them no need to pay over that much, reminds me of when Malthouse went to Carlton and got daisy over

GC do draft them, then they leave for "home" and GC get more draft picks.  They have picks out the ying-yang, they're not as valuable to them as players are, that's why they'll pay what seems to be a high price for other clubs but isn't for them.

Any chance our club will pick up a forward.. it’s only been an issue since 2022!

Van Rooyen, Fritsch, Turner, Petty/Jefferson, Pickett (from Round 4), Chandler, with supply corrections in midfield and off half back.

Compare and contrast with the other 17.

Rioli will be 28 when season starts. that is a crazy price to pay

Although when do the Suns get good players?? they need to overpay

They also don't need to worry about throwing early picks away due to the production line of their academy.

So they can pay over and still come out winning.

Insane price to pay for Bolton.

An amazing outcome for Richmond, regarding the totality of their trade period.

It's all about when you bottom out sometimes. Freo and Suns stacked with picks, Tigers have gotten overs on every deal.

Then you've got the opposite end of the spectrum, with sides like the Dogs soon to be shafted on Baz Smith

Tall forwards … JVR, Petty, Turner, Fullarton, Jefferson, Kentfield

Smart forwards… Fritsch, McAdam, Sestan

Small forwards… Pickett, Chandler, Spargo (Kolt) (Laurie)

that’s enough

admittedly Petty should play CHB but fills in at CHF

admittedly Turner is a forward or a defender

admittedly JVR yet to fully grab the footy but he’s still young

admittedly Jefferson shows signs but the ghosts of Weideman remain

Freo overpaid for Bolton. A flashy player but he’s no star.   Effectively Freo gave up 2 x first round picks for him.   Wow.  Tigers are Big Winners from this !!!

The Tigers have cleaned up in this trade period. Perfect timing with Tassie coming in, the nucleus of their next premiership team should probably kick in to finals gear in time for compromised drafts.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with that and most of the commentary this trade period is that the majority of traded players have been obtained at 'overs'. Still, I just don't see a world where Bolton is worth that price, even acknowledging Pick 14 coming back their way.

Bolton is a nice player to have, but I think he's far from a regular match-winner and isn't often the difference between a win and a loss.

Freo WC and GC being molested - lucky if any of those players were worth 1 first round pick, let alone 2 for each of them.

GC did well out of the Houston deal though. WC and Port are the biggest losers so far.

alternatively, all of these players will be coming out of contract simultaenously, just as the taswegian franchise joins the competition

I wonder how many of the 2024 All Australian team will be wearing Richmond jumpers next year?

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Richmond traded at least a couple from the 18-24 bracket for future 1st round picks and use them to poach top level players next year.

They are going to be an interesting watch.

What if they sign new deals?

As I mentioned on an earlier thread Richmond will be looking to exchange some of the players drafted with these picks after say two years in the manner of GWS. (Think Tyson and others)

I had thought they might be stymied by the Tasmanian entry but it could in fact be Tasmania itself that is interested in 21 year old players from the Tiges.

Good luck to them. It makes sense

PS Just noticed that Palace Dee posted similar thoughts

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
