Imagine how much better our side would be if Luke Jackson in it? I think his loss to our side has been immeasurable since 2021…

If only he didn’t miss the family Sunday roast…reckon we would have won the 2023 QF final against the Pies with Luke Jackson and we wouldn’t have gone chasing Grundy.

Buy the look of him, he is a vegetarian.

I'd take Windsor

Exactly this.
Jackson has all the traits of a star, but for mine definitely not the desire to be one. He might mature and live up to his potential like Hogan has, but Windsor will be a 250 gamer and a bloody good one at that.

He doesn’t miss the Sunday roast. He now can afford prime eye fillet and aged wagyu every day of the week. Losing him wasn’t the biggest problem. Failure to cover his loss even with a journeyman ruckman is. Was very ordinary today in a must win game.

The Dog is a highlight reel only. But I’m forever thankful for his highlight minutes in 2021.

Again, he is an eggplant steak kinda dude. Not that expensive.

Jackson hasn’t really set the world on fire since he left, so I’m not missing him as much as I first thought.

Yep I like Windsor more too.

If only Jackson didn't leave

If only Trac didn't get hurt

If only Fullarton could play

If only Gus didn't get KO'd into next year

If only Gawndy worked out

If only T-Mac never had the footy issues

If only Ben Brown didn't have a degenerative knee

If only Jesse never left

If only Frawley never left

If only Woewodin never left

If only Farmer never left

If only Barassi never left.

Can we stop whinging for a change?

Meh, 13 touches and a goal in a must-win game today. He wanted to go home to be closer to his mum and he’s happy playing for an irrelevant club. His loss, not ours.

So basically, his average output over the last four years.  Cameo player every day of the week.

...but will he do the Trent Croad?

That's the question.

And we've got the loyal WA boy in JVR.

Unicorns don't eat meat.

He has a lot of skill but to my mind is a lazy footballer.  Seems content to do just what he has to so he can keep getting paid.

Don't want him. Can't forgive him for all the rubbish about "I don't know if I'll leave" when he knew perfectly well - and played like it IMHO.

Yes they do.

But it has to be cooked very rare.

Good ordinary player

I said at the time Freo were crazy to use up so much capital to go after Jackson.

Not because he's not going to be a  star (though I wondered if he was driven enough- still do), but because they had an A grade ruck, Jackson is not a natural forward and had more pressing needs than another ruck.

There was also the opportunity cost with the picks they gave up, and his starting salary created challenges trading in other gun players, nor to mention cap issues when it came time to resign Brayshaw and other guns.

Two full seasons later, I haven't seem anything to suggest I got it wrong

Surely by Jackson's second season they would have hoped to be a genuine flag contender. Hell, just a few weeks ago (after flogging us for the second time) they were in the top 4!.

But for the second year in a row since trading in Jackson, they have missed finals again.

And might have made finals if Jackson had put the team on his shoulders in the port game and been a difference maker, something you expect from your highest paid players.

Like riccardio leaving red bull, the smart play for Jackson was to stay with the dees for 3 more years and then go to freo on a mega contract - maybe as a two time premiership player (imagine how different 2023 would have been with Jackson in the team).

Who better to learn your ruck craft from than Gawn for another 3 years and then with possibly another flag under your belt move back home with a mega contract.

Well I think it's the world's worst kept secret that it would have been smarter to stay a few more years and then seek the big trade back.

David King was crying out for it during the week begging Jackson to be that ruck influence they needed.

I still think he'll be a big success but we'll see how successful, his team is a joke.

dogga with mfc: 3 seasons, 5 finals, 1 premiership
dogga with flagmantle: 2 seasons, 0 finals

longmuir is on a hiding to nothing in 2025; he'll be desperate for a deep finals run to keep the wa hounds from the door

  • GAMEDAY: Geelong

It's Game Day, and reinforcements are finally arriving for the Demons—but will it be too little, too late? They're heading down the freeway to face a Cats side returning home to their fortress after two straight losses, desperate to reignite their own season. Can the Demons breathe new life into their campaign, or will it slip even further from their grasp?

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
