You look at who hawthorn recruited last year. Then compare to who we bought in. Not talking about Windsor but some othersย

We are not much better.

Watching Hawthorn tonight brings back so many happy memories of watching the Dees in the 2018 finals.

Noisy crowd, young team full of attack and and momentum.

Smash em Hawks!

I feel the same wayย

Letโ€™s cut to the chase, can Hawthorn beat Sydney at the SCG or GWS at Giants Stadium in a prelim?

They'd have the belief

Yes

It makes me sick the long suffering hawks and cats fans get to see MORE finals wins when we've seen 5 in 20 years and 3 of them we weren't allowed to go to. Stuff footy. There is no karma.

Looks completely cooked.ย

Hasn't had a touch this quarter and yet they have McRea sitting on the bench as a sub..

Much love for the guy but he's not gonna win them a flagย

If you're a hawks fan wanting to go to Adelaide,ย  I'd jump on now for flights before the prices are jacked up

They are playing in Sydney.

A few things with the Hawks:

1. They arenโ€™t that young. Theyโ€™ve got real experience in their midfield and backline especially. Watsonโ€™s ready made, Weddle is a beast. Dear is the one super young player and turns out he might be a freak?

2. Theyโ€™re super fit. You can see theyโ€™re rarely tired and go up and down the ground. Richmondโ€™s fitness coach was an incredible hire.

They are in their defensive grid right away. Dogs havenโ€™t got started with their ball movement.

3. They arenโ€™t afraid to kick to a contest from a stoppage, inside 50 or out of their backline under pressure. Thatโ€™s good finals footy and they win their share of contests.

4. They have a number of highly skilled players and a solid baseline of skills, but the main basis for their ball movement is coordinated run. They run in waves but they also run in well organised ways. Forwards come at the kicker and the big thing is that every one of their handballs goes a good distance because the runner is spaced a good distance.

Nope. Adelaideย

dumb as a post naughton. Sheppard it through for christ sakes

Naughton should well remember Tom McDonald on "bang, bang, bang" and shepherded Bont's goal.

And that right there is why we shouldnโ€™t go anywhere near Daniel. Canโ€™t hit a kick to a teammate 30m away and put him immediately under the pump.

Fair go.ย
Heโ€™s their 2nd highest rated player.ย
15th overallโ€ฆ.

We are seeing a game style that is yelling at me to forget our fixation with getting a big forward at any cost. Itโ€™s about quick, clever ball movement, midfielders with leg speed and smart, quick, small medium sized forwards, with a mobile tall or two to contest in the air. We look a mile off this pace.ย

Geelong and Hawthorn winning finalsโ€ฆ

Christians! What does this tell you?! There is no god.ย

To be fair since 2016 they havenโ€™t played many in Melbourneย

Correct their ground has had major development etc but going of topic whoโ€™s fault is it that we donโ€™t have a training base and the whole club under 1 roof, with the mindset of having a base around the G, Jackson started this process 10 yrs ago ..ย

I have been thinking about this a bit. Unlike ย many other clubs, the Melbourne supporter base is not at all localised. Geelong, Footscray and to a lesser extent others get massive government funding which is sheer pork-barreling, because it swings voters in a given electorate. We don't have that pull. And that is no-one's fault.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
