It's literally like 2 players who live out there lol Gawn and Lever.

Then you have someone like Ben Brown who's all the way out at Moonee Ponds, Ed Langdon in Fitzroy. That's a hike for these guys especially.

Majority of the playing list are based around bayside and East Melbourne area.

“ bayside “ is nearer Cranbourne and to say Fitzroy or Moonee Ponds are “ all the way out” is as ridiculous as calling it a “hike”.
Both those players  have been recruited to the Club and won a flag so their domestic location is not the Clubs  fault but their choice as we had Casey set up already.

We all know that not all employees live adjacent to their work premises so let’s  not overplay this.

BTW do you think all the Hawks players are going to live in Dingley  now once their cathedral is built. Not likely.

We all know WCW and her views on Casey so she’ll always add her thrippence worth to this argument.
Notice deafening silence also on this post other than Casey views!!
Interesting !!

RUOK?

Where did I say anything that even slightly alludes to what you said?? I’m basically saying that how she dresses at any function has absolutely no relationship to how she might or might not perform her duties at the Dees. I was saying that you did not need to make mention of that… just discuss the actual topic which is about her performance at the club.

I’m not saying anything is ok. I know there are obviously issues at the club that MUST be addressed, but I’m not engaging in hyperbole that is based on rumours (everyone hating each other etc).

I want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of responsible posting. It's crucial that we avoid sharing unverified rumors, such as "I heard from a mate that [insert rumor here]." Spreading such unsubstantiated information can be harmful not only to the people involved but also to this community and to you as the poster.

It's important to distinguish between rumors and legitimate information. Sharing an article or opinion from a recognized media outlet is different because those outlets have already released it. However, when you post hearsay or gossip, it can lead to consequences, including the removal of your post—even if the majority of your post is acceptable.

Additionally, please be aware that certain words and phrases have been flagged for moderation. If your post contains any of these, it might not be published, regardless of how much of your post is otherwise fine.

I genuinely want this community to be a space where we can discuss important and serious topics, but there are boundaries that we all need to respect. Moderating these discussions is challenging, and while we strive to get it right, we need your cooperation to maintain the quality and integrity of our conversations.

So, before you hit "post," please take a moment to think about what you’re sharing. If it’s something you’ve heard from a friend of a friend, even if you believe it to be true, it’s better not to share it here. Remember, there are real people involved in these discussions, and your words have an impact.

Let’s work together to keep our community thoughtful, respectful, and responsible.

Just be nice to have a president like Eddie McGuire who is happy to front up to the media.

Post 2021 grand final and pre season 2022, Kate was out and about singing the clubs praises. In the darkest moment the club has been in for quite a while now...Radio silence.

Gary Pert and Kate Roffey are two of the worst things to ever happen to the football club and anyone who doesn’t agree with that has their head in the sand.

Please explain. On second thoughts, don’t.

And if you’re going to state something about me that “we all know” please @ reply so as I’m notified. I wouldn’t have seen this only I was in the mood for reading ridiculous posts. I almost missed this one!

Do you even understand what “how she carries herself” means… it’s a reference to your “red dress” comment. I think it might be you that has the comprehension issue.

My 2 cents on Pert and Roffey.

  • Pert: Never liked him. When he talks i feel he goes round and round in circles and doesn't bring anything to the table (like a Goody press conference). He's a CEO for hire not a Melbourne person.
  • Roffey: Gees she was all up and about when we were up and about...fast forward to now and does any one know where she is? She's gone to radio silence.

The issue I have with these two is that they will back Goody to the hilt because if Goody goes down with the ship, they have to go down with him. They three and linked together so tightly that they would rather move on other staff that aren't aligned to Planet Goodwin so the three of them are always protected.

Could you ever see a time where Goody moves on from the club but Pert and Roffey stay? Not in a million years.

As for the home base...until I see something concrete i'm not listening to 1 word from out of Pert or Roffey's mouth on "there are so many parties and its a delicate process...as soon as we have an update you'll be the first to know"

For all the talk of Western United's new stadium...sure ain't much going on out there...and it's 4 years overdue.

You never debate, you post your opinion and never allow others theirs. As we used to say back in good ol blighty...all mouth and trousers.

Personally I don't want to hear from the Chairman unless there is something important to say. Same with Pert, off the field is just that.

FWIW I have just emailed the following to the president, most likely it will have no impact but I felt I had to send it because i have had a gutful of this

Hi Kate

I have never written a letter to the football club before but felt compelled to due to the current noise and rumours surrounding the club and I believe it is time to request some sort of response from the president and not just be content with the well written but standard company line message from the CEO Gary Pert. I have been a supporter of the MFC for 56 years and a member since 2002 despite not living in Melbourne since 1992. I was like all of our long-suffering supporters delighted that were finally able to break the premiership drought in 2021 and been delighted with the club's progress over the last few years. It is expected that the that level of performance cannot continue for ever and eventually there had to be a decline in form but what we are currently experiencing as supporters should not have been expected. The perception of a club in decline both on and off the field with ongoing concerns regarding key players and continual concerns around culture is something supporters shouldn't been expecting so soon after reaching the pinnacle of success.  The thought of our only ever Norm Smith Medalist wanting to leave the club and this being leaked to the media could be the final straw for many supporters and destroy the momentum the MFC was in becoming and remaining a respected club.  Watching Simon Goodwin having to respond to all this noise during his pre-game press conference was unfair and he did a sterling job but really the club should be doing a hell of a lot more to defuse this noise and provide the supporter base with the confidence that the club is united and in control and strong enough to not only survive this current mess but to actually go on the offensive and show the world that the MFC isn't the meek victim it has shown itself to be for the majority of my life.  I will continue to pay my family membership regardless but my fear is the next generation that we finally were getting on board will be lost forever.

Didn't Peter Jackson want Josh Mahoney to replace him but got vetoed by the AFL who installed Pert?

Good luck

i wrote a constructive but plaintiff letter after the finals - highlighting how we responded to Maynard - nothing. I know I’m not owed a response but I’ve emailed Gary Pert before (before the 21 GF and got an obviously personal response immediately).

I suspect membership may plummet next year

Peter Ryan’s article today states she was bewildered at our position at the presidents lunch last week. Well. Aren’t we all!

Hah! Where I am in Dulwich Hill, cockies and rats aren’t such an issue… maybe the terrific bush turkeys that live in my street, scare them away.

Boy, Roffey is an angel compared to some of these guys. Imagine if she appointed our CEO and then sacked him 24 hours later. This place would be apoplectic.

Can only assume Kate’s overseas on holidays.

Imagine Kennett or McGuire avoiding the media and/or its members in one of their respective club’s worst PR weeks in history.

To be fair, both Eddie and Jeff are narcissistic media Ho’s!! They don’t do it for their clubs, they do it for themselves!

I for one are happy Kate is bunkering down and not igniting the flames that are roaring atm. Those who think she needs to answer to them on here are overthinking their importance to this club. Paid up members or not.

I find Roffey often comes across in the media as patronising and arrogant.  Maybe its good for the club but would be painful for non-Melbourne people.

I've heard a number of media commentators in the media go on about the sorts of things Roffey was saying to them about a Demon Dynasty  on the eve of the 2022 season.  It seemed to really rub them up the wrong way and I think put a bit of a target on our back (as these people in the media run the AFL news cycle).  Obviously this wasn't isolated to Roffey but she was the one they went on about.

I'm pretty happy for her not to come out making big media statements as I don't think that's her strength and don't see what it would add.
