While we wait, (EDIT: ITS PAYWALLED FOR ME) I've seen "neutrals" ie axe-to-grind Collingwood fans, mention that Petracca should take us to the grievance council to force a trade, because of the handling of his injury. In the way Paddy Ryder did (Or threatened to do?)  I'm going to guess that maybe some of these journo's have been reading these opinions and it's going to be the next topic in the media cycle.

And that’s why this trade is going to be so hard to execute. Clubs will be lining up for Trac but won’t want to give up any of their assets.

Well that would be a difficult sell given the AFL already ticked it off

That would be incredibly tough to get an outcome out of, though.

Melbourne could say it is willing to trade him, but at market value, of course. Which is subjective to a degree but ultimately reflected in his contract and salary, which demand a high return.

I can't see the tribunal ruling in his favour unless the club knocks back a deal of reasonable even value next to his contract. You're talking two top 5 picks, or Nick Daicos. He also can't go down that route if he picks a team and isn't happy about not ending up there.

Barret article is a great read and on point. Like how the phrase “brand Petracca” has caught on, makes it all sound rather silly.

Christian Petracca could force a trade away from Melbourne via the AFL’s grievance tribunal

The Herald Sun can reveal there is a process through the AFL’s collective bargaining agreement where he could ask the AFL to step in to broker a trade through mediation if all attempts to convince the Demons he wants a new start fail.

The grievance tribunal is the nuclear option and has never been used before but is detailed in the AFL’s collective bargaining agreement.

The AFLPA is aware of the grievance tribunal, with some player agents in the league believing Petracca would have a case given the list of issues he has with the Demons.

The first option for Petracca would be opening up on his reasons for a trade - redacted various issues -which could help force the club’s hand.

How the hell can you take your own club to court if you’re on a long contract you signed, just because you’ve changed your mind and want to cut and run when the going gets tough. The contract has to stand for something. 

A slippery slope for the AFLPA who would have multiple unhappy players all wanting to find excuses to leave. 
Any club is going to have their issues.

Also can’t see how going more nuclear than he has already is going to serve his all important brand. If it’s goes down like that, I’m sure the club will burn his back the other way, saying he’s being uncooperative in their efforts to trade him as he’s not open to being traded to any club.

We might as well rebrand as a Legal Firm. Given all the lawsuits, we could rebrand as "Demons & Associates: Specialising in Hits and Legal Claims." Or how about "Red & Blue Legal Crew—We Fight On and Off the Field"? Either way, we have a solid case for being in the most legal loop holes in the comp!

If he goes to the Grievance Tribunal aka the nuclear option then we should just trade him to a bottom 4 team. Take the 3 picks or 2 and a player and let them deal with him.

Nuclear would be a Luke Ball refuse to play for a year option. But Im sure that would jeopardise his required duties in the contract.
