So effectively Collingwood have destroyed our club by injuring Brayshaw and Petracca.

They truly are the evil Sith doing the bidding of the dark side

Oliver never let that leak. It was leaked by the club to pull him into line.

Sorry typo - i mean the club

Not sure Trac is really going to like not being the big star at Carlton behind Cripps and Curnow.

Maybe he will try to push them both out and then demand another trade at the end of 2025 being unhappy with their direction

Honest question, if he were to walk away from the club next year if we don’t trade him, would that be a break of contract and we would be off the hook salary wise?

I was thinking the same thing. One of the reasons McClure gave was that he didn’t like how the Oliver situation was resolved..

Oliver was supposed to be one of his best mates.. so he wanted to just drop him despite all his challenges. Some mate..

Not sure that is still the case.

Earlier in the year he was hanging out with Gawn and Clarry prior to games…

He’s a big star of the competition as it is. If the reports are true, I think it’s more about increasing his “brand” and social media presence, and going to one of the big Melbourne clubs would do that.

Tracca has a clear enough head to consider his 'brand' and bigger crowds!

Unless all that is being driven by someone else.

From what I can gather the only other club to lose a Norm Smith medallist was WCE who lost Judd BUT he won it in a losing side.

It is unfathomable what has happened to this club since winning the flag, is it just that we can't have nice things?? Supporters will be absolutely furious if this trade eventuates and the club must front with answers. The typical corporate speak and fobbing us off will just lead to more disillusionment and disengagement. Petracca is huge with the young supporters who will drop off unless we can get back to winning and win another flag very soon.

G- brace yourself it’s gonna happen. There no walking this back. He has torched other players in the club. If they don’t trade him, I’d be less worried about the opposition players on the field.

TDK could do amazing things for our system.

I wish I wasn’t old enough to get this gag. Nice, nonetheless.

Cant get a trade? Just make it untenable...

Trading for Harry McKay would be a mistake, if we lose Trac on top of Gus, with the question marks over Clarry and Viney getting older we simply don't have the midfield to load up, we need any return to include high end draft picks and or good young players.

A Carlton trade i'd prefer to be for TDK and 2 first round picks. I doubt they'd like that, but a package like that to me makes more sense for where we're at.

Like other posters here, I have no inside information about conversations that have been going on within the club or the inner dynamics of Petracca's relationship with the administration or his teammates.

But some of the wild speculation about Trac has been simply absurd.

This is a guy who has given 100 per cent effort in every game he has ever played for Melbourne and was a key member of our drought-breaking premiership side.

Those who are criticising him can have no idea of the mental and physical toll that potentially life-threatening injuries can have on a person.

Alex Neal-Bullen is quitting the Demons for personal reasons and quite rightly there has not been a word of criticism about his decision.

Yet Trac is being hounded for preferring to keep personal matters confidential. If he decides he need a fresh start elsewhere (and I hope fervently that he does not), that can only happen on Melbourne's terms.

Surely it is time to let this play out without aiming personal barbs at a player who by now must have a pretty low opinion of both the media and some Melbourne supporters.

The whole thing feels a bit devastating. Tracc has gone through a lot but it feels like such a disappointing and bitter way for it to come to an end. Would have loved to have seen him fight and dig in, and not the way it's playing out right now. Feels like he's torching everything on his way out the door.

Your therapist.

Yeah I still think this is a way to force our hand on a rebuild while some players turning 29 still have currency.

Hear me out: is it possible that Trac knows he'll never get back to seriously playing, and he and his beloved club are on the verge of orchestrating one of the greatest draft heists in history, perhaps getting revenge on Collingwood at the same time?

I absolutely love your idea @Skuit. But it falls down in one area. Such a strategy would require a level of execution that is far beyond anyone involved in the AFL. They're just not that smart.

The funny thing is that it's not like he's chasing his first flag.

Does Christian actually want to win anything in future? Or is it going to be all about the ratings and getting eyeballs on him each week in 90,000 crowds.

Smells of 'me' and not 'we'.

Remember when we nearly had Tracc killed I said we needed to announce an investigation, find some room for improvements in our medical protocols and show Tracc a little love. Did that happen - no.

I’ve also been saying all year Gawn’s time was up and it was well and truly time for a fresh captain. Nope, didn’t happen.

I don’t agree with what he’s done but maybe Tracc will change his tune if we put someone in to the head of footy or CEO roles who represents a fresh voice with new ideas.

Why would you want to stay to play out your remaining prime years at a club that’s clearly in decline?

What part of this being played out in the media screams personal and confidential to you?
