Just the title on the other thread makes me nauseous.

Goodwin has delivered a period of sustained success.

No real evidence of disharmony at the club.

His career tracks alot like Luke Beveridge, sustained criticism from a 30/20 hindsight POV.

No appreciation for the fine margins and luck involved by those calling for his head. Anyone would think he is Neeld 2.0

Has done an amazing job of blooding new talent.

Has made the occasional blue with selection, and perhaps could have been more ruthless regenerating the side after '21., but hard not to support the list that delivered a flag.

His method has been consistently good, if the team had executed better we would have played in the last two prelims. They don't hand out top 4 spots in a packet of corn flakes.

And I'm sorry that 17 other clubs don't lay down and give up their generational talent. Be real, the Max replacement is never going to be satisfying, deal with it.

Well put Dee fence, all your comments are valid and in my opinion 100% spot on.

From one who reads most of what is written by others but has only ever commented on three occasions, on this occasion felt a need to support you.

You forgot to mention his game plan it's terrible. Too defensive. Won't win another flag playing that way.

Good positive post and I agree he has many great traits that we overlook. Flags are mighty hard to win and you have to have everyone fit and going at the right time of the year. I agree that tactically he isn't a Longmire or Scott but the is a great man manager.

Look at Sydney now shades of us in 2022 win the first ten then a few injuries and the bottom falls out of the club.

We have been consistently rewarded with success and wins for the last 5 years. The only downside is he has raised our expectations and we expect a lot. How many have Geelong and Sydney won in all their years of sustained success?

Hard to beat 2021-2023, went on a 17 game winning run which most of us haven’t seen before and probably never will again. A flag in the middle of that run.
Have faith he will  have us competing again soon.

You must’ve taken a wrong turn, fellah. You’re looking for the outrageously insulting “Time to go Goody” thread. The trail of stupidity should lead you right to the front door.

You’re welcome

Awesome thread, M. 💖 Thank you for creating it.

That said, I was kinda enjoying the “Time to go Goody” thread, though. Why? Well that’d be because I love the thought of the oafs who form the circle-jerk that is the SACK GOODY NOW! camp posting absolute rubbish for nothing… nada, zip, zero, zilch.

Goody is our coach. He’ll be our coach next season and the one after that.

The chumps need to get used to it.

whoops, it appears text predictor has chosen “chumps” instead of “champs.”

Yes Simon is the right man, the players are showing their support for him and so should we. JT & TL have a huge job ahead of them to try and find players that can help fill the holes left by Gus and Jacko, etc.

❤️💙 THANK YOU GOODY ❤️💙

You’ll always be remembered as the coach who delivered us a Premiership after many, many years of misery, and for that you’ll forever have our love and respect.

Hard to disagree on the whole with the OP.  System trumps talent in modern football and whilst we have had a very good list, it’s only found any success when paired with a very good (defensive) gameplan.

Funnily enough, in a knee jerk reaction to terrible goal kicking in ‘22, we have moved away from our proven system and the whole house has fallen down.

Premierships are hard to win - just ask Blight’s Cats (89-95), Thomas’ Saints (04-06) and Lyon’s Saints (09-11).

Essendon’s great team of the late 90s to early 00s only won one, modern cats have never gone back to back and Collinwood’s ‘10 dynasty only lasted a year!

The ‘great’ John Longmire only has one flag with Sydney 12 years ago and the premierships that the afl ‘handed’ the expansion teams never panned out, despite their list and draft concessions.

Premierships are hard.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
