High performance organisations dont accept 1 season of poor performance, let alone two in a row. Strong organisations make tough calls to ensure the future can be a successful one, this clearly isn’t working, on all levels we’re declining.

I’ve read all the Pros and Cons on this thread, what I struggle to understand is the pro to keep Goodwin for 2026, no team jumps from 13/14 to win the flag, even if he made finals, its unlikely we’d extend his contract, it makes zero sense to go into 2026 with Simon as coach, he’ll be sacked by mid year and we have completely wasted another trade period, draft, preseason and season.

Great organisations know exactly where their list is, what the future holds and makes move to improve for the future,I think we’ll be spineless and completely wasted another trade 2026.

[censored] off Simon. I hate watching footy. Our club is [censored] to watch and you are the reason. Nearly full strength.

You need to go!!!!!

If he had any integrity hed resign at the end of the year.

I cannot cop another year with him watching this rubbish brand 3 years in a row.

Surely the media goes hard on Goodwin this week. I'm absolutely over his spin. We may be building towards our next premiership team but it won't be under him.

Have tried to resist the get rid of Goodwin thing. But like you I've had enough. Saw him on Footy Classified during the week and couldn't believe the spin, even from him. Some if it was just absurd. What struck me is how much he talked about himself, and how he loves the job, the challenge, blah blah blah. I think he thinks he owns the job. The team needs a refresh...urgently. Other than Pickett the team is as dull as dishwater. Like the coach. Sad but there you are.

They should, but as we aren’t a powerhouse club, they won’t. There’s not enough uproar. We have bugger all members, bugger all attendance at games, and it’s not a huge news story.

Should it happen though? Yes, yes it should.

I’m just sick to death of the spin and rubbish from him, we have to get rid of him. We lost Yze to Richmond, he’s got a really young team and have won one less game than us. If we don’t get rid of him I think we will win 4-5 games next year!

Agree but we have an interim President & CEO which reinforces the issues at the club

Very evident there are serious issues within the coaching and footy dept, we have gone backwards dramatically in 4 seasons with another bottom 6 finish totally unacceptable and our star players have regressed, club can’t accept this to continue in 26 with blind faith just because we won a flag in 21… consider the record since then 2 x straight sets exits & no finals in 24/25, compare this to the next 3 premiers all contending!

We are not a high performance organization. Five minutes of sunshine in 60 years.

The worst part is we will see the same [censored] and hear the same dribble in 2026. I don’t think I have ever not looked forward to a season but there always a first.

F M D I am really am not enjoying footy, thanks Goody.

The immediate, instinctive, first impulse of going backwards when we get the pill is driving me [censored] crazy. Can't help but wonder what this list could have done over the past 5 years with a different coaching group...

I'm a paid up spiritual donor for the Simon Goodwin Healing Journey, and I couldn't give a stuff about players, lists and game-plans. It's all about self improvement, connection and love!

But no, seriously, I had a similar feeling early in the season. He was talking a lot about himself and the journey he's on as a person and coach to get better. I had a thought at the time: Am I on this persons personal journey or am I the fan of a football club?

Has the been another club since 2000 win a flag and drop off so dramatically?? Daniher teams with worse facilities played in finals 2000 GF, 02,04,05,06,

Goodwin hasn’t been able to reinvent himself, has had 4 seasons to and each season is getting worse and so are the so called stars who are shadow of what they were!

Needs to go along with Richo & target new assistants

I've been keen to see where the new gameplan takes us. Not anymore.

It's one of two things:

In a permanent state of "nearly there".

Or - and I'm starting to think this is the horrific truth - this is about it. This is pretty much as good as it gets.

Goodwin: "Clearly, you look at the last three quarters and you can see something."

Nope. I can't.

Just watched his presser and he looks angry and defeated. He trotted out the usual jargon but was particularly upset about our slow start. I honestly think he is out of ideas and doesn’t know how to drive change.

Yes, his time is up. The point of that post was to demonstrate its nothing personal and to recognise his obvious strengths. It's not just a pile on because people have some vendetta against him. He is bereft of ideas and the club needs some clear air. Hopefully they realise it sooner rather than later because going into 2026 with more of the same will be diabolical.

Goodwin and Macrae are the only premiership coaches since 1980 that haven't played in at least one other Grand Final. If Collingwood make the GF this year this leaves Goodwin as the only premiership coach since Tony Jewell not to make another Grand Final.

What’s making our skill level so poor and decision making amateurish

This is what worries me. Players who are now experienced - Rivers, McVee, Bowey, Fritsch, Sparrow (obviously didn’t play tonight) - regularly make dumb decisions with the footy

And we know he won't be here for 2027 (bar a miracle).

Why waste another year with Simon?

Reckon we’ll be lucky to crack 50,000 members next year if he’s still in charge

The worst thing that’s happened under Goodwin is that thousands of members have dropped off because they’re not buying what he’s selling

People will accept losses if they can see the vision of what is trying to be achieved and that the players believe in the process - neither of these things seem to be true right now

Give me what Richmond is going through right now than another year of this

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
