Goody has to give a press conference.

My suggestion would be to just say, the time for talk is over. It's time for action on the oval from our senior players. and its time for me, as a senior coach, to ensure this happens.

I will say, i'm fed up of the talk with transition of game plan. It's been 2 years. We're not coaching these players how to perform heart surgery. what's so difficult about it.

Not the Melbourne press conference I was hoping for.

Goodwin claiming "we have become a highly competitive team" is a complete joke. Just look at the stats a couple of posts above. Hopefully we only have a couple more of these w@nkword spin sessions left before he's gone.

Hope he hasn't passed the sniffles on to the players.

This except from the Age.....

Legend says Demons coach could be axed after loss

AFL great Matthew Lloyd says Demons coach Simon Goodwin could be sacked if Melbourne loses to West Coast in round 21.

The story to come out of that record loss re saints has accelerated the questioning of SG tenure at the club.

A loss v WC will really get the ball moving so to speak.

For me the loss summarized the club beautifully.

We can beat the lions at the Gabba.

Not for some really poor umpiring v the pies we would have one.

Our first quarter v the saints compared to our last is just the same.

We are really good and really bad.

We don't know which club will turn up.

The saints game gave us our monies worth and we got both versions.

Such variations are a coaching issue.

Despite all the errors SG makes the extremes of performance are always the fault of the coach.

He's now from and centre in the media and will eventually be sacked.

Sonner then would be more beneficial. Or he could resign but they never seem too.

Make the call now a MFC, so next year won't be as painful.

The facts are:

  • Since it all hit the skids, out of our last 34 games, we have won only 11, and lost 23.

  • Of those 11 we have won, we won 5 of them in a 6 game stretch this year. (this streak covered over the cracks)

  • We lost 5 out of our last 6 in 2024.

  • We started 2025 with 0-5. (that was 1 win of the last 11 then).

  • We have lost 7 out of our last 8 games, including the embarrassing capitulation v STK.

  • In the last 19 games, we have 7. We won 5 of them in a 6 game stretch this year.

All this with a fair chunk of premiership players playing, a very good injury list which we may never see again.

I don't know how many reviews, learnings etc we need, these are the facts, it just isn't working. It also doesn't take that long to implement a new game plan, that is a cop out. What KPI's does "the board" need to see? It's all there in black and white.

It's not just Goodwin, but the results are in and he doesn't have the capability to turn it around, the message is stale.

The facts are the facts, competitive football side? C'mon Simon.....

I never want to hear a coach say how much love there is with the players .The love boat is sinking bail out

If you want your mind blown:

at 1:00 minute in - "there was (sic) things in the last four minutes that we really liked..."

I am beyond speechless.

He's the spin master. Can't believe people have been so gullible.

And people still want him to continue. Who can find this acceptable?

Probably he is trying to tell the supporters don't bother this Sunday, just don't come to the game. If he can find anything about that last quarter as acceptable.

I had to watch it, it's not that I didn't believe you, I just needed to to actually see that...

I wonder what he liked... That Koz and Melk were on the bench near him? 😂

Won’t be long before he’s telling us about his multis for SportsBet 🤣

I feel even more validated that he is not the guy to lead us next year. All this talk about progress and transition is just smoke and mirrors. He hasn’t been able to address the key issues, being connection, scoring and stopping other teams momentum for 2 years now.

He says we are not the same group, but yes in fact we more or less are…. He is excited about the progress, but with the exception of Turner, Bowey and Koz- all our young players from 2+ years ago are going backwards.

He's delusional.

Needs to go.

Paul Guerra is already comprimised. He and Goody having regular walk and talk sessions. Dont hold your breath for Guerra to make change without being pushed.

It will be interesting to see if Simon makes some changes in personnel as a result of this "routine" board meeting or he sticks fat with the current crop that let last week's result unfold.

Do you reckon this is the first time Steven Smith has joined these board meetings through conference call?

First I've heard of this occurring, thought he was starting after September?

I don't mind his positivity. Being negative helps nobody.

But I don't like that he says we are a different core, because fundamentally we are not. We refuse to play a different midfield mix from 2021. The only difference is now Kosi plays there, and that's only because he is so good he's forced our hand.

We lost on Sunday with a very similar set up, and we all know that if Lever and May were available, they would have played and we would be largely unchanged in key roles since 2021.

In the first three quarters we played Windsor in the midfield and did well, only to sub him out and lose the last quarter with Gawn, Viney, Trac and Clarry playing midfield. Even when the game was there to lose, Kosi was rotting on the bench FFS!

Until Goody lets go of the nostalgia of the team that won him a flag, we won't move forward.

Honest answer I couldn’t care less if we win another game this year. Won’t be watching either way.

We are spineless and incapable of making tough decisions. We are still lapping up the flag season and have not moved forward.

I know that the club will not get another dollar out of me while Goodwin, Richardson and co are there.

Honestly this made me feel sick. How can you take any positives out of that last few mins? This man is completely delusional. It’s so embarrassing. What’s so hard to come out and say hey yeah we cooked it and we’re not up to that standard…going on about being competitive is just a complete lie.

If it means we make the call on Goody then yes for me.

The sooner change is made the better. If sacking SG means some players get upset that's fine too, they can go as well.

We are going nowhere but backwards until major changes are made.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
