Regardless of how you feel about him, five years is too long to be the CEO of a professional sporting club. That aside, this is a train wreck and at the end of the day, he’s the train driver. 

For anyone finding it hard to get designated seats in Tridents or Redlegs areas next to friends or family it might be a good time to ring the club, what with so many people saying they won't renew.

Most definitely. They are trying to push an outcome. It is as clear as day.

MFC should be digging in their heels. Its not like there is another huge incoming star trade so the cap space is desperately needed right now. If a decent offer is not on the table Clarry should be playing with the Dees in 2025. If he needs to spend time at Casey, so be it.

Another alternative path is that Clarry gets his act together, Trac is back and the Dees start next year well ... then who knows ...

This whole Clayton Oliver fiasco has been exhausting. Gary Pert has a lot to answer for sticking his nose in where it doesn't belong and contradicting what Simon Goodwin has been saying.

I don't think interim President Brad Green reads the Demonland Forum. But I would highly recommend people who are Melbourne members send emails to him telling him your displeasure about Clayton Oliver possibly being traded.

has been ceo at meth coke since 1999; he's finishing up there this year - he started at the club in 1989

This is the first time in my 20 years as a member that I have even considered such a thing.  

The issue is that they know much more about the situation and understand much more about football than our supporter base. You need to give them the benefit of the doubt because most here are just part time analysts

We devote a lot of our lives fronting up to games each week from March to September. For some there's probably no place they would rather be, for others there is sacrifice.

I'm red and blue till I die but considering that we're the ones keeping them in jobs it is a massive gut punch.

When I pay my membership each year, I don't expect winning as a pass mark, I don't even expect to be good consistently. But the one, basic fundamental I except is for this football club to be run properly, not losing control and being plastered across the papers every week.

What do you expect? We have a CEO that runs rampant (from his home/office in Noosa) and a toothless board full of professional board members (plenty of experience as board members - not much in terms of running a football club) who not only can't keep the CEO in line but don't know what's going on in the club they are (supposedly elected - more like appointed) there to run, despite all the certificates on their walls from the institute of company directors.

If it has solely taken the review to reveal something about Clarry being detrimental to our culture and future success, then the people running this club are even more delusional bastards than I thought they were.

I personally think it shows maturity making the decision not to attend a medical appointment whilst still drunk. 

Can the club just withdraw from the AFL and enter a team in the amateurs?

There are always exceptions to the rule. Nesbitt is clearly a one-club person whose dedication comes from a profound connection. Pert is - as it would seem - a professional “AFL” CEO who we imported from a cultural wasteland.

This is the third post today by Jay Clark that has left me wondering, who does Jay Clark work for, Geelong FC or Clayton Oliver’s management.

I reckon you could make a fair case that DH's like Sam Manure deliberately seek to cause disruption. You only had to see their disappointment when CPL came back into the fold. Are they fully responsible? Absolutely not. But they are very keen to destabilize the club.

And just in regards to all this: seeing what we've seen over the last 18 months I'd be surprised if Oliver can make it through the remaining 6 years of his contract, regardless of where he's playing.

All just a bit sad really. Sad that our club is in the headlines and that we appear to be somewhat rudderless, sad that we've reached this point with one of our best players (ever), sad that we won't be compensated properly for the trade, sad that the team we're trading to will only get stronger, sad that we only get weaker. Can it be saved from here?

Certainly keen to hear exactly whats changed in the last week as Clarry was very happy on the podcast to get stuck into preseason as early as possible and re-join the club/team mates. And all seemed okay in terms of club messaging. All we can do is wait (and click refresh).
