Four vastly different situations.

Name another club that has this happening all at once.... if the environment was better, not even Nibbler would consider leaving.

Cant see how Geelong make this happen. Guess we'll see how much we really want Oliver.

Conspiracy theorist in me says Melbourne are pulling the strings in the background, quietly promising Geelong they’ll get him at a good discount (eg future 1st or even 2nd rounder this yr), possibly even including some of his salary in the deal, all in an attempt to move him on without it looking like we were pushing it.

Good on you, but losing players of this calibre this just rips the soul out off the club

sort of but not really

the soul of the club is the supporters, not the players

How does Geelong get 2 first rounders, and both Smith who they are committed to, and Oliver?

Or it just makes Oliver look devious.

I reckon what went down with Clarry 12 months ago was what ripped the soul out of the club.

Geelong will probably offer a 2nd rounder in exchange for paying his whole salary. Best maybe a future 1st.

If he goes it will be on our terms. He has a long term contract with us same as trac. If this happens it’s because the club made not the call, not Clarry and not the cats.

I can't stand Goodwin, and I have huge issues with Pert and Roffey, I'm on the record there. But the club can't be blamed for Oliver's immaturity, extraneous strings pulling at Petracca and ANB has legitimate reasons to go back to SA. I completely disagree with your definitive statement on ANB; and until you've been in a situation like that there's no point projecting.

Whilst I somewhat agree with your point around the environment being subpar, the whataboutism is a completely hypothetical point.

Cats mids are ordinary. They have no good trade capital.

A top 6 pick for a start required.

Oliver plays for Dee's in '25 or he sits the season out on leave without pay.

I highly doubt player contracts allow for arbitrary non-payment to players lol

As much as I dont want to buy into trading Oliver I wouldn't be surprised if stuff like this happens.

If they wanted to trade him, they wouldn't need to do this - clearly there is plenty of interest (eg Crows last year).  Many teams still tagged him even though he was not match fit and had a broken hand.  He is clearly highly rated - a multiple coaches award winner.

To do what you are suggesting would be stupid as it reduces his trade value.

How in tune with us is Jon Ralph at the minute.  He seems to be the follow up to a lot of our player stories at the moment.

Conspiracy theory - Demonland administrators leak fake Oliver meeting with Geelong news, in order to get post numbers back up to the Petracca incident levels.

Yet it would save face with the members. Not sure which is more valuable right now.

Apparently Barassi wants out!!

It's not going to be that...

unfortunately it's now about simply getting a mega contract off our books. The picks will be middling to reasonable without being high

Lol, could you imagine if it was just an elaborate troll by clarry.

Well unless we are trying to offload his contract to make space for another mega star player, this will absolutely not fly with supporters.

Would you be happy with trading Clarry for unders, watch him help Geelong contend YET AGAIN, and all we get out of it is salary cap relief which we don't need?

The members of this club have spoken loudly this year. We lost 10,000 members, and attendance dropped off. Trade Clarry for unders and watch the bottom fall out.

IF we trade Clarry, it has to result in someone very good coming back in return. Not more mid tier draft picks.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
