Given Essendon were kind enough not to select Goldstein we could win as many as 5 centre clearances on Saturday night.

Don’t think they could possibly get any taller. Already got 11 players above 190cm listed. They’re surely the tallest team in the AFL

Wright

Langford

Ridley

Mckay

Jones

Caddy

Stringer

Cox

Jones

Draper

Martin

I’m praying for a wet night

Anyone remember the 2006?? final against freo when we played a big lump of a lad called 426 for his first game in 3 years when Mark Jamar was injured. He got completely toweled up and we literally played a man down in a cut throat final. I think Fullerton is the new Nick Smith. For me it's a wise move. We're already missing enough talent.

Fixed it for you 😂

I imagine if it doesn’t work well they will likely change next season week.

You mean when we're out of finals contention? Fullarton should have played against West Coast, after Petty was ruled out.

Love how Goody got abused for being too safe. Another example of being creative - keeps playing the kids, positional changes and done so all season long through experimentation and necessity. Look forward to seeing how we go without Max, may be an early insight in a few years time.

Indeed.

And even his critics surely acknowledge he's got runs on the board this season with his left field selections.

Tmac in two weeks after ankle surgery. And selected as a defender at that.

Bbb of a limited preseason was a factor in a couple of early wins.

Howes was excellent for rge first 8 weeks or so.

Turner as a forward and doing ok

Melk straight into the ones after 12 months out and being one of our best players.

The kolt not really left field I guess, but still it was yet another young player in the side.

I am honestly just happy we haven't omitted anyone. Glad our mouse pack is still playing. Time to shine on the big stage.

I think Goody could have named Chandler in the ruck and you would have found a way to 100% see the logic. 😛

And given a stat for ground ball gets as a ruckman to back up the logic 😜

No Not Fullarton...... JEFFERSON and in spite of being in the best several weeks now, Goody saying he's close and Mc Qualter same, still cant even get on the Emergency list!

As others have said, the issue is not that we have overlooked two poor options in Fullarton and Verrell.

The issue is that we're destroying our forward structure, and potentially the players themselves, by asking Van Rooyen and Petty to play as permanent rucks, particularly against an aggressive ruckman like Draper.

It is exceedingly poor selection and coaching, which will look even worse if we cop another injury to a key position player.

This, this.....and........THIS..  most likely

Robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Fascinating or Foolish as others observe.

A wet night and park...

But perhaps there's a part to this that only becomes apparent on the night. Im going with that....   or it's good night Irene

Playing turner, petty and jvr at the same time makes us too heavy up forward. I don’t mind rotating petty and jvr

Who is the sub though? Woewodin again I guess - but I feel sorry for the kid. He's got talent and I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if he wanted out, maybe even back to WA.

Well we won that comfortably so not sure how you can claim that? Unless you have a super dominant ruckman it can be a bit of a wasted position

Does anyone read into this that Petty is staying. I doubt he would happily agree to ruck if he was Adelaide bound. I think it’s ok for him to ruck, he is big enough, but of course we all worry about injury with him.

If he aint better than Petty as a forward ??! Please give me a break!!

Thinking about this more, I think Petty was chosen because of his contested marking ability around the ground. That’s Gawn’s greatest contribution so he’s probably the best candidate. His tap work is overrated I think.

I do feel we missed a trick not selecting Tomlinson though. Essendon has a very tall forward line.

His decision making seems slightly slow. Hopefully this will develop with experience and age

Wow, the sheriff of opinions comes barrelling into town, just a point you couldn't tie the shoelaces of @WalkingCivilWar as a Melbourne supporter.

I am a fan boy, I support my team no matter what,  as it is only footy, I get disappointed after a loss and enjoy the wins. It is not toxic, toxic is not allowing anybody else to have an opinion.

Back to the footy, looking forward to Roo rucking in the fwd 50, Tommy Mc in the back 50 and Petty and Turner around the ground. See what Draper thinks of that, with the occasional surprise of somebody like Clarry taking a ball up or 2

well said Saty, wish you would post more often

Don't mind it. If we had a pure ruck, we would struggle to find room for Melk, JVR, Petty and Disco. By including Petty we can rotate one of the big 3 in the ruck while keeping our forward structure similar to last week.

This ensures we include our most talented and competitive players. Fullarton and Verrel are project picks, neither are ready.

Makes a lot of sense.

Good point, and I think it's going to be wet. Going small could be a stroke of genius

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
