So happy for Melksham.
When he finishes up playing, I hope we keep him on in a coaching role (maybe forward coach)

We are so Dr Jekyll and Mr Hide with our goal kicking, we either can't miss or we miss the easy ones 😅😅

god there are some miserable [censored] on the game day thread... would you take a 50 point win? Yeah... but, I'll [censored] whinge about it not being enough, and some players haven't done enough.

nah nah, I just expect a lot from my team and want to see consistent improvement.

Anyway

Youngsters keep doing well.

We don't seem to be toooo predicitable as per the earlier thread this week.

Battened down the hatches in the 4th.. but you can spin that narrative that because we're not in the 8, you need to continue and put the 'foot on the throat' to be deemed to be worthy by some supporters vs being in the 8, and it was a day at the office and responsible.

Good win especially when the youngsters were the better players. Still big question marks over Oliver and Sparrow, as well as our backline.

Bring on the Injectors next week.

the boys did amazingly, especially the kids. Second halves could use some tidying up still but super proud of them.

Standouts in rivers, windsor, kolt and JVR and theyre all 22 or under!

Bring on the Dons, we've got this.

Nice win and some great improvement in structure.

Windsor's game was enormous and bodes well for the future.

Next few weeks will be telling

Loved what I saw from the young kids. Kolt, Windsor and Roo fantastic.

Last quarter without Max was always going to be a battle. Anyone know what’s wrong with him?

They mentioned he tweaked his ankle. Nothing serious, more precautionary.

We were never going to replicate the 1st quarter for the whole game. Happy with the win and form of our younger players especially. Tholstrup looking like he belongs and Windsor's best game for a while if not the year.

Hope Gawny sub was just precautionary. Hard to see any changes for next week unless Petty is ready. Woewodin maybe the only one under consideration after 1 touch as the sub but would be a touch unfair probably.

Has there ever been a backline that cracks the sheets and points at others more than this mob.

Still historically they're very good

I liked the fact we look to move the ball quicker and at times through the corridor. The fwd line seemed less congested and we delivered it a hell of a lot better than we normally do.

TMac should be offered a one year contract for next year.

Iced the ankle, didn’t look to distraught, would think with 6 day turn around precaution. Wouldn’t be surprised to see crutches/moon boot for a few days and light week for him

Ankle was being iced when he came off.

JVR’s post-game interview. What a sweetheart.

Did you see his interview this week in the MFC social? (YouTube)

Looks like a very mature and down to earth bloke.

I think we're gonna have a lot of youngsters in the B&F top 10!

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #42 Aidan Johnson

The VFL premiership player was recruited from Werribee to alleviate Melbourne’s forward line woes and give a chop out in the ruck, but he managed only five senior matches in his first season at the club. At times, he was a dominant force at VFL level.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #44 Luker Kentfield

An exciting young key forward, Kentfield was selected in the 2024 mid-season draft but has yet to make his AFL debut. He was sidelined by a severe bout of pneumonia over the summer, which consequently limited his pre-season. Upon his return a month into the season, he commenced in defence but ultimately impressed with his progress at Casey, particularly in the latter part of the season as a strong marking goal kicking forward.

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.
