CASEY: Rd 15 vs Brisbane Lions

Featured Replies

The Brisbane Lions are one game off top spot, the Casey Demons are languishing in the bottom third of the ladder but the possible increase in available AFL-listed Demons should make this game more interesting than appears to be the case.

My question for the week to the people who put together the VFL fixture is why it didn't happen last week when Melbourne played in Brisbane?IMG_4426.thumb.jpeg.1353690f315de092f2b39c170efc3844.jpeg

Thanks KC. appreciate you keeping us informed

Thats maybe the best Casey team for the year

Great to see Hore back. Quality defender. So unlucky he was injured while lever was out

Farris-White gets another gig! It'll be interesting to see how he's progressed after a decent stint at the lower level.

Hardly decent  stint about 6/8 games needs a season or two or 3 really!

I’m not sure that he played even that many because it was reported he was injured. Hopefully, he’s learned something about ruck craft.

I was quite intrigued by how many top 8 AFL side's counterparts in the VFL are languishing in the bottom half of the VFL ladder, Swans, Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood. Made me think the cupboard is a bit bare elsewhere as well. In 21-23 when we were red hot, no doubt, Casey was firing, just a reminder grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence, and maybe we are not so far away.

Not that I've seen. If he can't leap at the ball, he has no plan B.

Great question.  The lack of liaison means both competitions suffer, especially the novelly named VFL.  Hold over emergencies miss weeks of football development because the AFL and the VFL just don’t seem to care.

Won’t look quite so good when a couple of holdover emergencies don’t play because they are stuck in Melbourne. Like some were stuck in Brisbane last week, or maybe played after a rushed late flight from Brisbane

Today shows how poor this competition is. Last week seniors played lions in Qld. 2- 3 players as emergencies did not get a chance to play. This week the reverse again 2-3 players will not play this weekend. Why weren't the games on the same weekend?

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.

Never in doubt!!! In Steven King’s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
