 Sad, but true.

Goody, you're my mask.
You're my cover, my shelter.
Goody, you're the one who's blamed.

I thought the free kick for a faked handball to get the player on the mark to move was removed last year, but it’s back it seems.

AFL site saying it was an umpiring mistake.

We will end this round just 1 game and 7% outside the top 4, and just percentage behind 3-4 other sides, with 9 games to play.

It’s a pretty decent platform to work with if we can find it within us to right the ship.

I used to really enjoy lurking on these pages but the negativity is a real drag. I know that it's frustrating watching your team lose or not play their best, but being a supporter is also about celebrating wins.

There were so many positives to take out of tonight. Yeah, we may not be playing our best footy, but we were so much better than previous week's. We led for the entire game for a start and barely kicked any behinds.

The youth at our club stood up tonight. Kolt was amazing. That Kynan Brown tackle 🔥. Trent Rivers. Judd McVee.

Jack Viney, Max Gawn and Steven May played really well. Petty had some impact!

Our first and third quarters were really good. North Melbourne are not playing like a bottom side - they were really lifted in the last quarter and were hard to stop.

We may not win the premiership this year, but there is a lot to hope for in the future. Every top 8 side has had a [censored] time recently - Sydney nearly didn't make the finals last year, Geelong missed them entirely. Collingwood were woeful in 2021.

A win is a win, is a win, is a win.

As much as I’m disappointed with the performance, that’s a very level headed post.

North’s last 2 weeks have been streets ahead of ours, and it was pleasing to finally see some set shot accuracy tonight, which ironically won us the game.

Wish I knew what was wrong with Clarry, I think this is the crux of lot of our problems .

I know he had a limited pre season , but I really thought he might have stepped up in Trace absence.

He seems to have no go in him anymore.

Looked to me on the TV up here in Qld that he had a hard tag. This is where the Coach is failing IMO. I would have thrown him to the forward line and rotated the kids through the middle. Never know a couple of goals up forward for Clarry may lift his confidence. Again, I saw Goody being stubborn and not willing to make changes in game.

While it was disappointing that we fell away in the last, we need to talk about the state of umpiring…fans whinging about the May free will drive the narrative all week, but let’s highlight a few ‘inconsistencies’:

- 1st quarter. North given a 50 metre at Melbourne’s half forward line and it goes inside 50 for a shot on goal. That’s 80 metres

- Sheezel drops the ball in a tackle. Play on

- Scot lt caught it one tackle. Breaks the tackle. Gets nailed in a 2nd tackle. Ball up.

- North bloke fakes a handball. Windsor moves off the mark, 50m.

- TMac takes a mark, bloke stands…then moves off the mark.nothing to see here

- the ball is bounced in the centre and goes a long way out of the circle..ends up a north advantage and is called play on

- same thing happens at next bounce, we win it, play on

- Petty mark not paid

- TMac eyes on the ball and gets blocked in his jump, paid the other way to a guy blocking him. Crazy stuff

If I were a conspiracy theorist, I’d say the AFL felt guilty about last week and were looking to square up with North. Laura Kane is an ex-Roo and made a clown of herself this week trying to justify the decisions in the match against Collingwood

He has been worked out. I think his lack of pre season is a reason but not the reason.

Was always a poor ball user but his stoppage work has just fallen off the face of the planet.

We don’t have it within us this year with no Trac and Oliver like he is. But Trac back, give Oliver a proper preseason, some new coaching ideas and a bit of intelligent list turnover over the offseason and we can def be back contending next year.

I apologize personally for my non attendance. First and last home game I will miss this year.

But I’m not gonna lie, my holiday was way better than that game was #noregrets

Well that was an ugly game. We came to an absolute standstill in the last and didn't look close to winning any contested footy. We became scared and reactive, then absolutely timid with the ball in hand and refused to put any speed on in transition. Roos fans were up and about and sadly they seemed to outnumber us, particularly where I was sitting. We are a young and different team to what we've grown accustomed to over the last 3 years, both from a personal and gameplan perspective, so I'm trying to adjust my expectations accordingly.

I may cope some flack for this, but I was really disappointed in how Gawn went about it tonight. So many contests where, if he feels is been infringed on, he will look to the umpire and then take an eternity to either pick himself off the ground or return himself to general play. On one occasion he even turned his back to the ground ball contest, looked at the umpire then slowly jogged slightly away from the footy without even realising he was 5 metres from a disputed ball for the past 15 seconds.

I'd love to hear what is said into the umpires earpiece during the game. I've often wondered if there's encouragement to 'mix things up' a bit

One more thing. It’s been said a few times already, but…
Pup should have been on the ground for the first bounce.
Not to put him on until 10 mins to go was [censored] – more than half the team could have been dragged at any time.

Let’s not do that again to a debut player.

Was tagged heavily by Philips. Max said Clarry went to LDU or another mid to make it two on one and release Jack Viney

Without Trac it was going to be interesting to see who reaped the benefits of more midfield minutes. Looks like it was Rivers tonight and he was outstanding.

Clarry’s form is a huge concern. I think we could all live with the lower disposal count, but the lack of discipline is absolutely killing us at the moment. He was stiff to give away the first 80m penalty in the history of the game it must be said.

8-6 with Lever to come back in, that means no more Tomlinson and Howes giving away bulk scores from panic frees. I’m not ready to write our season off. Most likely we miss the 8 or get eliminated early but there’s plenty of footy left and we’re not in a bad spot ladder wise. There’s only two good sides in it and we know as well as anyone that any team can [censored] the bed in September. Keep the faith.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
