Would not be fussed losing both Lever and Oliver at this point. I know people have been justified with their criticism of Fritsch for the bulk of the season but we’ve seen recently how damaging he can be. I think it would be very foolish to let him go, I think with a new coach and relevant gameplan he will be back at his best.

Another player I raised earlier was Buku Khamas from the Dogs, currently just outside their best 22, he’s 191cm, fast, can take a grab and reasonable set shot. Would cost bugger all to get him and honestly what are our other options. I’d like to see him up fwd with Fritsch and Melksham, very dangerous trio if the delivery is right to an open fwd line.

Trac and Viney are keeps for me, we can’t get rid of everyone, it will set us back too far and we don’t have to.

I know May is getting on but he’s quite versatile over his career, hopefully he can play for another two seasons. I’ve wanted to give Turner more time fwd but if he is to stay in defence we are quite strong there and are set for a while with Turner turning 25 next year & Petty 26. May on the other hand is 34 next year.

Not sure if Tmac will go around again, but if he doesn't May/Turner/Petty/Adams/Derksen? an ok springboard for 2026.

Would need target a free agent for 2027 in the event some don't kick on though.

We need leadership around the place. For that reason viney and lever stay for mine.

Agree, wish more had of Viney’s blood running through the boys. Whatever the stuff up at the end of the game he was genuinely hurting.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned here, but there’s footage of him punching the turf after the siren. I’m surprised he didn’t break his hand it was that hard.

I’ll forever have the imagine of him bashing the ground in my head after the 23 sf. People can say what they want about viney and I agree that we can’t just play him in the middle anymore, but he genuinely cares so much about the clubs success you can’t just move him on because he’s past his best.

It’s been said a million times on dl but we need to turn him into a pressure forward, play the exact same role as touk miller this year. Tackles like a maniac and has genuine goal sense.

Ollie Florent was a staple for Sydney but for some reason can't get a game.

I'll be annoyed if we let Fritta go. There is such thing as a career form slump and he clearly appears over that.

I'd rather lose Lever and Clarry than Fritsch.

For all our deficiencies, we seriously can't afford to lose his scoring ability. I know he's had a patchy year, but his last month of footy is as good as he's played for 2-3 seasons.

There is always the possibility that I'm outa touch - but what precisely do JV and JL offer leadership wise that 400 other players in the comp don't offer?

Outside Coleman, they're all battlers who can't get a game or past it.

What's the story with Keidean Coleman? I know he's been injured. Is he in VFL due to returning from injury or has he fallen out of favor? He's a game changer, but doubt he's available.

apart from coming back from the ACL, Zorko has taken his spot and hes not moving. Bris deciding not to play two loose attack minded HBF.

I don’t think this should be Simon’s decision

It never is Simon's decision.

It’s probably been mentioned, but if we lose McVee I’d be making all the calls through to Starcevich. Hell, we could absolutely use him even if JM stays.

No thanks. He is one concussion away from retirement.

Lord I am not sold on - has had plenty of opportunities and imo Jefferson shows more already.

Ryan I would look at but for very cheap.

We need to start to look beyond the cheap pickups. It's

a good read of speculative fiction

these trade stories are designed to drive clicks and ad revenue - they get far more attention than any other sort of content

little basis in reality of what's actually happening, or not

all guessing games

I mean that’s literally everything in life until it happens. Doesn’t mean things don’t have merit.

Countless things happen when there’s speculation prior, coach sackings, player sackings, trades. List goes on.

We have no choice but to more on senior players if we want to get early draft picks. I am afraid we will replace those with like for like which probably see us go backwards. I would like to see Gawn give up the Captaincy and become a part time ruck coach , no need to employ inferior coaches. We need a decent midfield coach and a forward coach perhaps B.Brown, Goody and Company need to be tossed out.

We need to look at getting half a dozen young players (18-19) who have midfield experience. These kids would be the one's who missed out on being selected in previous drafts. All could be be rookies.

We also need a CEO or President who is going to put up with sh.t . At the moment we have nobody.

I would be very happy to see Goodwin (has to go else I’m done), Petracca (#1 Hack) and McVee (playing like he has no interest) move on.

Oliver is a keep (no trade value). I believe he can get back to his handball & contested best under a new coach.

I would keep Lever. Tmac has definitely earned another contract. Should never have played VFL…

Fritter is a keeper as well.

The best thing… Lever worth a 1st round pick.

Much higher than I would have thought but happy be to proven wrong , if he decides to leave.

I agree, you take that in a heartbeat.

I don’t reckon we’ll get it though?

I’d like to see Lever start obtaining his coaching credentials as I think he’d make a great coach - hopefully our backline coach one day.

I very much doubt the 666 penalty would have occurred if he was playing.

Who knows… but if there are offers for him in the first round you have to take it. His form has been terrible and he is injury prone. It just has the hall marks of Gus, Petty and Oliver offers a few years back. If we don’t take it we will look back in 12 months and say, if only.

We simply must. There hasn’t been a single trade scenario where the decision to hold players has worked in our favour. Not one. This is another reason why the Footy dept needs to be scrapped.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
