windscreens o'brien signed on at the crom for 3yrs so you’d assume draper to brisvegas

so the bears get:

  • oscar allen as a free agent

  • sam draper as a free agent

  • not 1, not 2, but 3 top 20 picks as 'nga' selections

a 'fair and balanced' system; good time to be a brissy fan

Their ex CEO is now AFL head of footy.

Their perks aren’t stopping anytime soon.

Heard Silvagni is possibly moving to Collingwood, so maybe up for grabs.

Wonder if he’s worth a look in for us?

I personally think he’s soft and injured a lot but what are your thoughts?

I think you just answered your own question.

The thing I find crazy is if Oscar Allen - a WA lad - is clearly now available it possibly implies he may have been in previous seasons and then how we didn't pry him loose then seems strange to me.

Goodie was the most empathic today about bringing in talent in the middle aged group that I've heard him ever be. So sounds like we may indeed trade or try to trade hard.

we did; couldn't convince him to move to melbourne

dingley had no success dragging him across east either

he's made the choice of living anonymously in brisvegas and being paid a fortune instead of living under high scrutiny in melbourne...and still being paid a fortune

That said we failed to capitalise whilst on top of the ladder and won a premiership. That is on the entire club coaches included.

We got Grundy , which was applauded at the time but didn’t work - fair enough for trying.

Other than that we didn’t get anybody of note. Not 1 person that consistently plays in the senior side.

That is gross gross mismanagement. Ultimately it starts from the footy dept that took way too long to change things up and adapt to the modern game. Then when they finally did change our game style we quickly fell out of favour as a destination club and are almost left with no choice but to rebuild through the draft right in the middle of a new club entry.

It’s going to be a long road to recovery unfortunately and one that may not proof fruitfull.

How do you know we didn't consider them or attempt to get them to the club?

No one ever knows 100 percent @Demonstone but I hear things through a contact at New Balance who has decent intel and those names never came up.

Free agency was designed to help the lower clubs. 90% of free agents go to teams in the top 6 who are competing for the premiership. It’s a farce !!

no, free agency was designed to encourage player movement and feed the industrial strength news cycle ABOUT player movement

articles / videos / podcasts etc about such generates far more clicks / views / listens than anything about the actual football itself

His knees are cooked. Buyer beware

Wouldn't be shocked if we sound out someone like Dylan Shiel as a 12 month rental if we decide to blow it up

We will need mature bodies unfortunately

he's not even a vfl level player these days, he's edfl quality

if we are remotely interested you'd want it to be a 3rd round pick going out and a 2nd round + shiel coming back in

Me either.

Would sit right up there with diabolical decisions such as Hunter, Billings, Fullarton, Sharp, Dunstan and Schache.

Until Tim Lamb is gone, the club is not going to improve. Tim Lamb has no credits in the bank for any recruiting since 2021. It has been appalling.

Ooiiieee, I still believe Sharp will make it and at least the other players you list at least made Casey a better team.

That's fine if you accept mediocrity DZ.

These decisions are part of the reason we are miles behind the teams contending and we remain bottom 6 for who knows how much longer.

It was in jest.

Wade Derksen should be a Dee in 2026

Kadean Coleman is in the VFL and could be a target since his younger bro relocated to Melbourne (Williamstown)

Ash Johnson worth a look, Pies have plenty in front of him

Mal Rosas at the Suns would be gettable, was told he could look elsewhere in 2025 but stayed

If Coleman is gettable at all I'd be very keen.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.
