I’ve already asked him to take a photo of it and he said he will do so the next time the rooms are set up for Collingwood (he only works part time) which shan’t be long because they play at the ‘G so often.

How he described it though, you can see it’s a Melbourne player but you can’t definitively say which Melbourne player it is. I’m sure it was designed with that in mind. But it’s not hard to join the dots.

Is anyone free to do a stadium tour today and can get a photo? The Filth play Hawks tonight, the room will be set up for them today.

Agreed, Hate what he did, hate what he took from us/Gus.
But not giving that filth any more of my attention.

this is a fair comment

I think as long as we have see Maynards ugly mug running around we will always be reminded of Gus.

Same can be said for Collingwood who are using the hit as inspiration for their filth.

I don't hold anything against Maynard for the Brayshaw bump in the final.
That too was a football accident IMO.
It was a final with no beg pardons.
I wouldn't want our players pulling out of contact like that.

What I do hate is that we allowed him/them to rough up Lingers.

I'm sure Moore wanted the knee to hurt, not sue if he wanted to rupture Tracs spleen.
The big Yank is a dirty bastard tho'.
Seem him try to injure Gawn a couple times, and saw him try to wrench Tracs knee another.
He know his skills are limited so attempts to help his team illegally.

I also remember we allowed them to mug Watts in his 1st game.

Sooner or later a line must be drawn in the sand with this lot.

So you don’t find issue with all these individual acts? What about collectively? Don’t they paint a broader picture of what length this club would goto to win a game of footy? Tossing the well being of others to one side? This stuff may have been acceptable generations ago but the thuggery and intent to inflict injury to get an edge over an opponent is no longer acceptable by today’s standards. It’s disgraceful.

I suggest you read my post again, particularly the last line.
You seem to be blinded by Maynard derangement syndrome.
Yes I do find issue with what they've been allowed to get away with.
But at some point the players need to stand up for themselves and their teammates.
Pretty obvious the AFL aint gonna do it.

And if you remember.
Viney was the only player who remonstrated with Maynard after the bump ... Because he's Viney.
He's also a little bloke.
And the 1st time we met Collingwood the next year, after all the hoo ha about Maynard turning up at Brayshaws house yadda yadda, there was Petracca and May all smiles and cuddles with Maynard after the game.
And no-one backed Lingers up when he got mugged after that weeks build up.

That disgusts me.

The epitome of filth.

You start to think they are below filth, if that's even possible.

I think what we want to see, just for once, is something similar to what they did to Langdon after his "all duck no dinner" comment.

Tbh the Brayshaw situation is more deserving of such reaction from our team than that silly comment from Langdon.

I hate seeing our players being friendly with them even before the start of the game when clearly Collingwood treats the MFC with contempt.

You should give it a rest. It's sounding more & more like a lynch mob.

This latest bout of "revenge outrage" started when a poster suggested the Maynard picture might be one taken after the Brayshaw incident.

It clearly is not because BM has a black armband in the photo & didn't wear an armband during that infamous final.

Well I for one aren't going to let a little black armband ruin a good story.

Wasn’t sure where to post something I wanted to say about Maynard then this thread was bumped.

So I have a friend who works at the ‘G. Yesterday he was in the home team’s rooms which were set up for Collingwood (since they’re the next team to play a home game there) including posters on the walls and the like.

One poster which is supposed to depict the essence of Collingwood has the word FIGHT in large block letters underneath which is a photo of Maynard slamming into a Melbourne player.

I was shocked and said surely it’s not the Gus incident???? He said you couldn’t see the head of the Melbourne player but the number on his jumper started with a 1

If they’ve printed a poster with that disgusting incident on it and are pinning it up proudly in the rooms at the ‘G for motivation or whatever, they’re even more reprehensible than we thought possible.

Think i will take a cab sav around to him then belt over the head with it

Where did you see it Cranky?

No one has posted the photo of it, so how do you know?

My mistake - I assumed the photo in question was the one of Maynard posted previously on this thread & clearly it is not.

In my view the best revenge is [censored] them on KB not endlessly encourage more thuggery by our players to "even up".

I'm not suggesting more thuggery, Cranky. I'm agreeing with you on that. But we shouldn't sit back and let them use that incident as inspiration to encourage more thuggery towards our players, either. It's crappy behaviour that deserves to be called out.

Kat I would be really shocked if it was the Gus incident being used. I highly doubt it would be. Even for the Pies that would be lower than their current low. They all know that Maynard got away with “murder”. I really don’t believe they would be advertising that fact.

And make no mistake their large supporter base probably would make fun of us and Gus.

Perhaps they don't care because they are the darlings of the AFL

So when was another time Maynard flew into a Melbourne player who's number started with 10?

Did the Dees player have a helmet?

I’m sure Maynard has charged any number of players during his career.

It annoys me that

Our admin did SFA about the incident at the time and

Our players who patted him on the back or whatever after the next game. No thought gif Gus at all

As much as I think highly of our players

Am I the only one who finds this endless comments about injuring or crippling players for revenge quiet appalling.

Agree cranky, calling for violence is a red line for me.

I understand the anger, though to be honest any residual anger I feel is directed at the AFL for the sham that was his non suspension and their role in the shameful thug washing of maynard"s reputation.

I'm happy for the karma bus to hit Maynard.

Then stop, reverse, and back over him.

The Dees player’s head can’t be seen therefore a helmet can’t be seen. But his jumper number starts with a 1

See this ....
20 seconds into the 1st qtr after Langdons "Duck Dinner" comment.
I don't care what anyone says.
We should've come from everywhere.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
