We'd lost the past two, quite convincingly. Never let facts blah blah.

Here's the four previous meetings to Sunday:

Round 1, 2023 MCG Freo 79: Melb 72; LOST

Round 20, 2022 Perth Stadium Melb 85: Freo 39; WON

Round 11, 2022 MCG Freo 94: Melb 56; LOST

Round 1, 2021 MCG Melb 80; Freo 58 WON

Don't you just hate it when you correct someone, mock them, and then it turns out you're the goose?

I guess not, because from memory you have form in this regard.

Fair play. I thought we'd lost our last two against them. You might be remembering a different Chook though, as I don't usually do much mocking of people. You're the one being rude here.

Well I did say it was from memory...

I would have traded Petty for the picks Adelaide were offering and had the pick of the litter. Or traded 13 for a player on the trade table.

If it was indeed 2 first round picks, Adelaide had 8 & 21 - those players have played a combined 2 games - not much impact. You’re not getting Harley Reid with those picks either, maybe 6, 8 & 13 but even then the eagles probably say no.. they didn’t want Norfs picks.
No one on the trade table was anywhere near pick 13 value.

I am livid right now after this performance. It was an absolute disgrace to see the kind of tripe we saw yesterday. Not to mention the umpiring was an absolute joke and probably cost us any chance, I don't we got one free that we deserved while Freo got everything their way. They're not even that good.

I'd have no problem saying to their face that they were pathetic. The coach needs to be seriously questioned and I don't know where on earth the president is. She's front row centre when we're winning but no-where to be seen when the going gets tough.

An absolute disgrace to the jumper. The club needs to become ruthless and get rid of the soft underbelly that we've always had. A new coach would be a good start.

Weren't you the guy who thought we were brilliant against Carlton?

If there's one tiny little thing to come out of this it's that there was no illusion whatsoever with this result. No papering over cracks, no masking severe deficiencies, no feel good comeback to make people think we were better than we were, this was an unequivocal thrashing and everything is now laid bare.

And don't talk it, walk it. Go right down to the next training session and tell them all how pathetic they are, I'm sure they would love to hear from you.

Clayton Oliver for Max King. They need an elite mid, we need an elite forward. Get it done!

Don't know if Fremantle were really good or Melbourne was really awful on Sunday.

Either way, it was a disappointing effort and the players as well as the coaching staff need to sort things out. I feel sorry for the all the passionate Demons supporters who made the huge effort to travel to Alice Springs to watch the game. They would of been livid. We cannot tolerate such a humiliating loss.

I don't wish to see a return of the "dark days" of regular beltings that we all experienced in the past.

So you saw McCrae give him instructions ? You can read lips from the coaches box?

Ridiculous pathetic and juvenile, but yes clearly the on ground incident was reportable and he should have been suspended

his fitness base to power out of the contest is clearly not there

and it won't return during this season

he needs a big off-season to return to the best he can be in

I have no idea what he went through in the off season but this is so disappointing... supposed to be our best mid ever in his prime and with a team in the window... no we are free falling back to the pack and the likes of Viney Maxy and May are getting to the end

Yes you did. Now leave me alone.

Stop projecting. (This was your initiative. And as for rude: try blah, blah blah.)

The president is the head of the organisation…one that makes decisions, strategy and gets the job done..Kate has not done so…needs to get out…caused to much angst at the club in my opinion..stayed to long with inactivity.

re Pert.financially we were a lot better…under Jim Caldwell,we were elite..should have bought the Hilton, now Pulman for our social aspects.Change is needed at this club - and in many aspects…

There's more to come out with Kate

Still flat as a tack.

A loss of that magnitude destroys trust between fans, players and the club.

Or by the way they played perhaps that trust had been lost before the bounce of the ball.

They played the same way against us last year at the G. Fast movement,  big pressure,  double team in the ruck, out marked us in their fwd 50, dominated centre clearance.

There were no surprises from Freo on Sunday.

Only from us. Bad surprises. Poor skills,  poor coaching,  bad positioning, lazy midfield

Jefferson has got to come in, Petty must go out or go back to the backline, he’s hopeless forward. I cannot understand why TMac wasn’t sent forward and Petty back, Tom is way better up forward.
anyway Goodwin has wasted what is easily the best list we’ve had in my lifetime, and I doubt if I’ll see a premiership again, never really saw it except on TV. At least we won one I suppose but jeez I wish we had have got Yze before he left, he’s twice the coach Goodwin is!!

TMac has said publicly more than once, his foot injury has restricted his jumping, speed and lateral movement, the key aspects required to be successful as a forward. Petty can run faster and jump higher, unfortunately he's not doing that at the moment...and he may not actually have, or want to have, what it takes to be a successful forward.

It’s above the shoulders. The Players have got to WANT to get back on track.
Yesterday after 5 Minutes, they all chucked it in….

WHY…?

Agree they chucked it in, because a collective realised after about 10 minutes of play that;

  • we had no forward targets
  • > 5 players played out of position
  • at least 3 players not fit enough (maybe not good enough) to compete at the level
  • some very tired and/or out of form leaders who have tried to carry the can all season (+2 more not playing)
  • a realisation that Fremantle smelled blood and were ready to make us hurt and there was nothing we could do about it

And for the first time since that final in Perth in 2018 it all became too much, brutal collapse. Heads held low, fumbles, can't hit a simple kick, can't stick a tackle.

Despair & retreat.

Tough on Viney

Probably but he was a different player last year. So much more involved.

It's at the point now where players like McAdam are chosen because our fwd line is so suspect. And we have all seen how he has fared.

I hope Milk is traveling well.

If things had been different ... hmm.

Clear HTB 10 metres out from goal not paid to Melbourne in the first few minutes. It would/should have been 3 goals to zip. Then 2 pathetic skill errors gifting 2 goals to Freo. Instead of 3 - 0 (goals) up, 2 - 3 down.

Of course it may (would probably) have ended up the same, but I love the opportunity to use the expression "sliding doors moment".

What are you talking about?
I saw Maynard take out Angus with the Full Shoulder and Execute.

Whether the Coach gave instructions or not is irrelevant

We should play Oliver as a tagger (although watching Daicos accelerate after disposing of the ball, I am not sure he will get close).
