    How rude you are to question Clarry after 150 good games and he was not at or near his best (like about 5/6 others). Players are human and to see him do all that work and you openly ( or sarcastically) ask about a trade?

    please don’t contribute if you dishonour a champion so horrendously because you are in a shi..y mood. And the forwards were poor but again not necessarily as disinterested as you assert.

    We all know that Oliver, fit and firing, is a champion.

    It is simply a fact that he had a terrible game tonight in a midfield that was completely smashed by the opposition.

    Petracca, another champion, also had an off night.

    Obviously we all want to see Clarry back at his dominating best. But so far this season he has been a shadow of the player we know he can be, and if he does not regain form he would not be worth the money he is on. Again, that's simply a fact in the brutal world of football.

    I would be delighted if he produces man-of-the-match performances for the rest of the season.

    Well spoken 58er. Talk about lack of loyalty and respect for one of the best players to pull on a Melbourne jumper. Maybe your disappointment tonight outweighed your logical thinking.

    Oliver - Shouldn't have played.

    Clearly hampered by the hand, couldn't pick up the ball, couldn't grab an opponent, it was like trying to play with one arm.  Hopefully it gets sorted during the break and he's back to his best soon.

    Turn it up @BigFez. Selwood played his whole career with one arm. Didn't need the other one to handball.

    The club rolled the dice with Oliver and why wouldn't you. But he's clearly too injured to be playing. I hope the bye will give him time to mend his hand. He was killing it before.

    Um, you do know he has serious hand issues?? Not his fault he plays, surely selectors and medico's are accountable for playing him when clearly hampered!

    Looking past the disposal count in games, he's been very average by his standards the whole year (I'm not suggesting he's past it though, by any stretch). But to say he was 'killing it' this year, even prior to injury, is viewing his season with a high amount of recency bias with regards to his previous seasons.

    It's so obvious to us his injured so why play him? Would have been the perfect time time I've him a extended break to get fit and firing...

    But don't you think it's a coincidence that after the ripping round 1 game his form started to dip after the finger issue first came to light?

    It's a massive part of Oliver's game being able to extract and use those quick hands to help clear from contest. Take it away from him and it's like telling Tiger Woods that he can't use the driver.

    We have literally nobody else to bring in.  Our depth is woeful.

    Seen some bad takes on this site. its been 157 game ssince Clayton has had back to back game sunder 20 disposals. since his 9th & 10th game. Relax on the trade Clayton narrative please.

    He did get 9 coaches votes in a game before his injury so he hasn't been what you call average the WHOLE year. Some very over critical posters on this forum I reckon.

      The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

      The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace.They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
