Has to get the ball though.

If there is no change to the squad I would probably swap Woey for Billings.

If May comes in then Billings out, Hore as the sub.

1 goal assist and 3 score involvements, yes he needs to be better than that game.  But he doesn't waste the footy too often.  Having players like him, Langodon, ANB and Windsor all in side make it very had for an opposition side to keep up

You'd think the changes will be dictated by fitness more than anything. We will have been planning this out for months. Is Brown able to back up? Can Gawn go again against another pretty decent ruck in O'Brien? Is Lever's knee OK? Is Oliver's finger OK?

Crows terribly out of form

Should be an easy win

The Adelaide media will be out for blood this week and I expect the Crows to come with a response. But otherwise they have been ordinary thus far.

BB is super important for us. Gotta manage him though the season. Given the ridicoulous 5-day break perhaps Fullarton comes in for him. he'll provide a chop out for Maxy as well.

Fullarton hasn't done much at Casey but I understand your point on BBB.

If May returns then Petty plays forward which allows bbb to be rested possibly

Riddle me this....Petty was moved fwd for the last quarter.

Thought he was good in defence but didn't really seem to have an impact up fwd.

However our fwd structure seemed much better after he went fwd.

Not sure if it was because it stretched Ports defence or a result of our mids just lifting and getting more i50s

Ideally I want him fwd.

It's good to know that we can cover May without Petty in Hore, Lever and Tmac.

The latter two were wonderful and I am genuinely surprised at Tmac's recent form.

Bbb as well.

We have gone from the view that anything from Tmac and Bbb is a bonus to them being prime players .

Credit to Oliver who played with one hand and played a blinder of a final quarter.

It's so exciting to have so many marking targets in Fritta, Petty, Jvr, Bbb and to a lesser extent Sparrow up fwd

Crows will be Desparate with a capital D

they will want the win and Dees must be on guard from the start

AFL taking the fizz … two interstate games only with 5 day break   FFS  Dees to show them the middle digit

changes ?

yes Woey to start and Billings as sub, otherwise no change

May? I would trust the club and medical group. But it’s a big risk and I’d like to keep him to be ready for the Lions clash

Billings will be fine, a lot of our flanker types in Pickett, Howes, Salem, McVee did stuff all. It was a slog.

He had a poor game but he had an absolute blinder the game prior so you don't get dropped. He stays.

If May comes in Hore will have to make room. There's a lot of competition down back.

Please make training a very light one.

The Afl must be taking the Fizz.

Two away games against SA teams in a row.

Throw in a five day break.

Tossers

I hope we crush the Crows.

Is this the first time a club has done this?

Hi Bombay, good to hear from you.

I guess your revelling in this Spiritual day too.

The joy of being a Dees fan.

I'm sorry I can't answer your question.

I'd guess yes but maybe the footy almanac in @jadednomore can help out.

Cheers.

It is an absolute shocking draw. I mean you couldn’t disadvantage a team anymore.

Glad the team has made a mini holiday out of it for the club - it may actually end up working in our favour.

Two years running we have played an Adelaide team in the Gather round. Big disadvantage.

Didn't we play Essendon last year

Stand corrected, yes!

Can well understand

Most of us have tried hard to forget that game

bulldogs played an Adelaide team and played the Suns in Darwin. Those losses cost them a finals spot

Good opportunity to keep a side out of form down with our stifling defence and grind out another interstate W

And remind Petty that his preferred destination stinks

We played Essendon last year, I would prefer their kind stayed in Melbourne :).

Of course.

the lions kangaroos should have been Wednesday night. With both teams having an extra 2 days than us.

Windsor doesn’t look as though he needs a rest. At his rate of improvement he’ll probably be in our best 6 at the club after next week. I haven’t seen a player come at our club come do what Windsor has. We’re a top 4 level club, and this kid comes in first year and improves the side drastically. Unless he gets injured he’ll be winning the rising star.

Oliver made his debut in the two-point win against Greater Western Sydney at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Round 1, 2016. He was highly praised during his debut match, twenty-two disposals, with fifteen of them contested, and seven clearances from 58 percent game-time, labelled as one of the best debuts in the previous fifteen years, but yes Windsor is good, but don't forget what a phenom Clarry was.

Give May another week, no change bar injury, Would give Billings another go has had some good games, already.

Do you reckon they tagged him?

I couldn't tell, but he was so important last week, and so quiet this week I wondered if they targeted him.

Clarry just walked onto the big stage and owned it.  What a debut

sure The Duke is an amazing calm talent and absolutely no disrespect to say that Clarrys debut was a one off.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
