Accurate goal kicking wins matches

Ben Brown makes a huge difference to our team

Having a big fwd who will mark above his head takes a lot of attention away from Fritta and JvR and splits the defence

Just good to have a big presence to be mindful of as a defender as well. As long as he doesn't have to do too much defensive running he's still a good target.

I'm proud to say that today's match was the first Melbourne game I've attended interstate.

What a bloody win. Couldn't be prouder of the boys.

Wonderful win, we soaked up their pressure for 3 quarters and then really went to work in the last

how on earth does Dermie still get a gig. surely there is someone better for the job. spouts such guff

Was past his use by date years ago

Please someone give Derm an Easter egg

And here’s me 3 weeks ago saying Brown and TMac are dead and cooked. I bow before thee in great apology. That goal from Ben on 50 when the crowd’s meth had really kicked in……awesome

Credit for putting the hand up. Very few do.

Hung around all night, great resilience on display where Port clamped down a lot of players like Fritsch, Petracca and Pickett. ANB, Langdon, BBB were so good, great to see Windsor kick his first. All this without May. One of the best wins in Goodwin era, a genuine contender with a lot more upside to come.

It's March you just want wins on the board, playing premiership footy now is pointless.

Dumbest comment of the year. Did you expect us to win a different way or? Make it make sense with some people 🤦

6 behinds.

How awesome is accurate kicking?

15 goals from only 45 entries is awesome

ANB is a freak, he’s gone to an A grader this year

I wouldn’t say an A grader. However, he’s an improving playing even at his age. It’s more the mental now. ANB is athletic, with a tank, but a cooler head than we see. He is aging well, and he will improve.

Fitness - 11/10. we ran over the top.

Midfield/stoppage/clearance - 3/10 for first 3 quarters, 15/10 for last quarter.

Field kicking - 1/10 for 3 quarters. 8/10 last quarter.

Lever, Viney, Max, BBB, - epic leadership.

Goal kicking - 9/10.

Umpiring was poor to both teams, no advantage. 5/10

He's on fire this year.  Was key tonight when Oliver and co were being held back.

Clayton Oliver 9 possessions, 4 contested and 2 clearances in the last quarter.

Derm just doesn’t rate us , so great to shove it up him.

Gee that was a good battle.

May and Trac and Clarry,  not at their best , Kozzie too.

Away  from home , hostile crowd , huge win bloody huge!

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
