I believe McAdam had a hammy problem a few weeks ago, just after the calf came good, he had always been running short distances in his individual program at the trainings. For him to be absent, was unusual.

AFL indicated McAdam has nerve issues effecting hamstring and will train away from main group as Mon Bon and titan_uranus mentioned.

Jed Adams is ready to go if he gets a call up.

Strange that someone with an injury like McAdam would be training / doing rehab away from the club when presumably most of the medical or physio staff spend good parts of their work week at the club. Something doesn't feel right

When I have seen McAdam previously in rehab, he doesn't seem happy. He runs without contentment or intensity. Perhaps it is getting to him. Hope we are wrong and missing from the main group and the other rehabbers is genuine.

I can imagine being on the couch  or in a yoga position (stretching), for a couple of weeks so the 'nerve' issue causing hammy distress resolves.

Training away for the group?

Does seem fishy.

We need his skill base and him in full training mode.

Unpopular opinion on here it seems but I hope they persist with Laurie, at least for a few more games. Kid has skill, is one of our best by hands and when he gets his confidence up he should sharpen up those kicking skills and help our delivery inside forward 50.

In my view he appears to be a confidence player and doesn't believe he belongs yet. Doesn't help when langdon runs across his kicking line, smothering the kick and then scolds him for it, nor would it help when he was clearly ignored by Salem while he was 20 metres in the clear inside 50. Out of the 6 games he's played he's been sub or subbed out 5 times.

He will want to start showing some serious improvement however and I don't think a forward line can include all of Him, Chandler, Anb, Pickett and Spargo with McAdam to come. Up to him to start taking these chances otherwise he'll be in strife come the end of the year.

Another Laurie apologist…go watch his practice match against Carlton. Made several basic skill errors in a pratice game in front of 3,000 ppl. He is lost on the big stage and executes horribly under pressure. He is not AFL standard. Lacks height and size and has little physically to make up for it, unlike a Caleb Daniel. He won’t make it. He deserves nothing. The fact he was subbed so early shows that the coaching staff knew he was a complete liability

Noting that Rucci from SA reported differences with Adelaide's fitness staff during the trade period

I interpreted that he was doing rehab with the club, just away from the main training group at goschs/Casey...

I'm just a fan that wants their young kids to do well and not [censored] on them as an easy scapegoat. I already said he needs to improve or he'll be off the list come the end of the year.

I've watched plenty of his games last year and including the Carlton game. There's enough to work with for him to make it at afl level in my view but he's certainly up against it. You don't rate him at all and thats fine, let's leave it at that.

My reading of that AFL article is simply that McAdam won't be joining main training.

Yes, the article does say he "will complete a training block away from the main group" but the article also later says "The South Australian has spent most of the pre-season training away from the main group."

Is it any different from the usual rehab? Most likely he will be in the gym/pool/physio until the nerve issue has settled and he can start running again.

Let’s not make assumptions (that can quickly become hastily -formed theories) based on things we don’t really know about.

If he’s despondent for any reason, it might just be because he’s frustrated with his body and wants to get on the ground.

The Colt is certainly made of the right stuff, wrestling JV after a heavy training session, love it.!!

Bring him in, surely a better option than Laurie.

Doesn't sound good regarding McAdam, hope he gets it right and doesn't rush it to get back.

Lot of love for Fullarton

Beauty is by comparison but I do wonder how he will fare at AFL level

19 games in five years for Brisbane (12 were in 2021)

Good luck to the guy.

How was he at Brisbane VFL level?

Kicked 30.22 at VFL level last year in 18 games.

Woey was looking good, nothing extra from coaches.

We didn't take it on through the middle.

They want them to be quicker and not make errors.

They want the smalls to stand and/or break through tackles.

They are working on Petty's fitness.

Going very slow with Hunter.

Not bringing K.Brown in till he is sure of his role.

Viney and Colt have a thing.

Goody loves Clarry.

McQualter works the recovery session.

They are loading.

Stafford was micro managing.

Staffo minding or managing himself. Can’t manage a forward line now a ruck problem.

Rarely was a Coaching group outclassed as much as Goody etc last week.

Grundy Lever JVR no blind side team changes during game and Maxie just got tired and tirederer!!! In the Sydney humidity. JVR needs to be ticked at times if not getting ball and also needs to lead not just jump from behind on that small ground.

Needs to be rucked ( JVR) to get him into the game. Plenty of upside in the team from last week. But speed needs to be used on the G.

As a guess, it will be Salem to replace Bowser.

No no no need him in the middle. Hore or woe best bets.

Colt sounds very interesting...when do we think he might be ready for a run?  Pretty keen to see him out there I reckon he'd add something by the sound of it.

Really just want McAdam available, he was meant to help fix all this nonsense in the forward line and where is he?  Anyone know anything about his current situation and when he might be back?

Read our website article there.

i am not telling so go to our website!!!

Reading comments from Brisbane supporters, they did not stress about this guy leaving. Seemed like a not quite right player - similar to Schache, but he has not had much of a chance at the upper level at this point.

You are not supposed to guess or post non facts suggesting issues on this site without evidence RIF especially as you are not even in The vicinity of the players. Ie another area of AUS.
Fact or your opinion from afar RIF?.

Fairly well known he has issues with his Achilles

Gadzooks!  Will we ever fix this!??

Simon should allocate at least one entire training session every week to ensure we are NOT doing this.

Even if it means moving Stafford aside and taking over the whole session.

Isn't the nature of modern footy that forward lines are crowded?

In the article or someone noticed that Matty Whelan our indigenous officer was absent also from training. Thinking a link up there.

But with his injury and  relationship  issues history with Burgess at Crows he has now had 3 different leg/ tissue injuries in pre season with us.

At his age of 28/29 it’s not a great base to fitness for an AFL player. Granted heist be frustrated but is he his own worst enemy?

Now  WCW has had chats and posted that he is very happy here but he might be but can’t really say anything ross as he gets injuries often I guess. Sad to see and hope he can get well asap snd get his chance to shine right us.!

Bit hard to get a look in when there is Hipwood and Daniher, and Big O never seems to be injured. They also have Henry Smith who is highly regarded but also can't crack it for a game and is now in his fourth year on the list. Can't keep everyone.

I agree, but i also thought similarly with Schache as he was competing with very talented key forward/rucks at Brisbane and the Bulldogs.  I hear Fullarton is better at ground level, and plays 'small', not as key position player.

Agree re skill. But if you don’t have the competitive drive and aggressive instinct I’m afraid he’ll never really make it.

See Schache, tall and exquisitely skilled for a big man but just doesn’t have the drive.

They have or had Darcy Fort as well.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
