Apart from the mullet Sestan looks a completely different player from last season. I reckon he's lost 10kg and is covering the ground a lot better. He's a natural footballer with clear talent.

Yep 🤮

Just one other thing about Clarry, just after 3/4 time a Port Melbourne player came over to Clayton and the joy, cameraderie, and passion was on display with bear hugs and plenty of backslapping and Bonhomie, clearly hadn't seen each other for a time but the obvious rapport was evident! The Port Melbourne player in question was..... Fraser Rosman a 1 time Dee

Was great to see🤩

Looking forward to Picket Fence’s on the spot reporting from Casey Fields. 😀

Hasn't he packed it in after last night's slop?

Still cant get over T Mac at Full back and Jeffo Back Pocket!!! Mystifying given our dire need for Forwards. BBB looked rusty and Fullars looked likely. Sestan, Tholly and K Browndog very good as was T Mac

Jefferson to kick 10 and force his way in I'm hearing

Going to be hard playing from the back pocket!

Our drafting and player development has been much improved this past decade, but we still haven't developed a capable marking key forward since the 2000s. I hope this was a short term lesson for Jefferson and not a plan to try turning him into a defender when we're crying out for a key forward and burnt a first round pick on him.

Maybe you’ve answered your own question here…

One would have to think it was a part of “learnings”.   I also hope that this is only temporary

To those who were there - did anyone put their hand up particularly in view of the “performances” of Spargo, Laurie and Schache.

I think Jefferson’s best chance to make it is as a defender like Mitch McGovern. He has zero ground game, lacks second efforts/intensity and will never be big enough.

Disagree recruited ad a key forward he wont make it anywhere else! Needs time FORWARD!

Agree agree agree. He’s a forward. Not a defender.  Good mark.  Solid kick.  Little 2nd efforts or ground work. Needs protein and daily gym work for next 12 months.

I think he theory with Jefferson is he will learn the game better from the back half.

I've revised my expectations to 8 goals

The why on earth did we blow a first rounder on him?

Thats a bog ordinary assessment.

It’s only a bog ordinary assessment if he ends up an AFL quality forward.

I seem to recall that we played Fritsch for at least half a season at HBF and it did not work out too badly for his forward work.

Yep and it was recognised as a mistake

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
