As others have mentioned. This is a great test for our forward line.

Brambles has played 30 games

Coffield has played 50 games

Khamis has played 10 games.

It's a great test because if our forward line isn't able to win one on one match ups, find separation and take marks against this lot I'm not sure when.

Tmac and BBB. Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away.

Laurie, Schache and Spargo out doesn't raise anyone's eyebrow, and Bowey of course is injured.

Tomlinson I can't quite agree with it. Searching for the panel's perspective all I can think of is that they looked at the various tall opponents they might put Tomlinson on;

Ugle-Hagan - too mobile

Lobb - too big.

Naughton - too strong

English - too big, too strong and too mobile

But how that translates into Hore and McDonald, I don't know.

Still, I'm thrilled for Hore and between him and McVee I expect we'll see a tribute match to each half of Michael Hibberd's career!

Not sure about all those changes, and not using Fullarton, seriously though Tmac must have impressed some folks to make cut.  I can understand BBB but I really hope Tmac has a good one, we need him to.

Who on earth is sub out of this list though?  Hope not Billings again I want him to play a full game dammit.  Probably either him or WW2 surely?  Maybe Tmac??

Hope BB and TMac have good games but gee it leaves us vunerable if they both play poorly.

We ain’t beating the dogs with these selections. I thought it was April 1 for a minute

Five changes for round 1 is a clear admission that we royally stuffed up the opening round team.

Hopefully we never see Laurie, Schache and Spargo again. Chandler very lucky as well, but I have no idea what Tomlinson did wrong.

Chandler has been lucky for a long time now. He played well in the first 8 -10 games then has dropped off something chronic

Changes needed, chorused all the post-Sydney critics.

Changes we duly got, and still no one seems happy.

But apart from Tomlinson, rather unluckily omitted, and Fullarton, what other fringe players have staked any sort of claim?

For TMac and BBB this is probably the final chance to show us whether they still have what it takes to compete at AFL level. I for one hope they prove the grumblers wrong.

So far it has already been a good week anyway, with Collingwood going 0-2.

It's true.

I'm not too fussed with the changes, I've got a "The best revenge is to live well" attitude as a Dees fan right now.

Hope T-Mac or BBB bags a hatful.

Goes a long way to explain wht we are currently 1.60 favourites (in from 1.65 AFTER the final teams were announced).

And can you believe we lost to Sydney last week when they had their own 3 best midfielders out

Adams 0 games for Sydney

Mills who rarely played through the middle unless needed to run with someone played more off half back

Parker was a very very good midfielder but Warner and Guiden have been there 2 best mids since early 22

But Kane Cornes was pushing the best mids out agenda and many bought it. If you watch footy and Sydney’s evolution you would realise how deep their midfield went

They made the pies look second rate tonight

Any midfield that has Bont in it is dangerous and Sanders is very good he will be one to watch

Aside from Tmacs two final performances, I think the issue is we have seen Tommo play in a real game and he was one of our better players so he shouldn't get dropped.

I am not opining on Tmac vs Tommo really but merely commenting  on your criticism of Tmac. I think he will be fine based on his to match form and training. Tommo was not in any way responsible for our loss but like Laurie is a whipping boy at selection.

Here’s hoping for a real team effort on Sunday. Go Dees.

Gives us a little better recognition after the Pies assassination. We stood up till our legs ran out of gas.

How do you get to sit in on Reviews? Everyone gets filthy when they are dropped.

Yeah everyone gets filthy when they’re dropped but his level of filthiness was: ‘what am I even doing here/I want to leave’ 3 months after he was dropped.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
