Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

MELBOURNE

2023: 4th (16-7, 125.2%) and lost semi-final

Montagna: “They’ve only been outside the top four for a total of two weeks in three seasons. So, this is a really consistent, reliable and strong football team. I know everyone harps on the straight-sets exits, but there’s some factors there … Yes, we understand they lacked composure and weren’t able to finish their work. But I’m not jumping off Melbourne. I still think they’re in the right age demographic and are defensively so strong in the contest. Even their offence, they were sixth in the competition in points for — they averaged 90 points a game. Collingwood averaged 93, so it’s not like this team can’t score. They’ve just been let down by their ball movement and entries going inside 50. But I like the adjustments — I like (Harrison) Petty playing forward and (Shane) McAdam, (Jack) Billings adds a bit of class. I still think they’re really strong. We don’t talk enough about assistant coaches — Andrew McQualter coming across from Richmond to add a little bit of offence and ball movement … I’m certainly sticking with them this year.”

King: “I just think there’s too many self-inflicted wounds through one off-season and the stress of everything going on around the edges. You start wasting too much time on things outside of football. You stress the football club, not just these players, and it permeates through the group. I don’t think this list is as deep as what it was last year. They’ve allowed players to leave that weren’t probably in their best 20 players, but somewhere between 20 and 30. Guys like (James) Harmes, (James) Jordon, (Brodie) Grundy (move clubs) and (Michael) Hibberd retires. There’s a little changing of the guard with that next rung of (players), which puts more stress on those senior players to lead the way. I just think the stress on the football club will have an impact.”

Predicted finish

King: Just missing finals

Montagna: Top four

Hudson: Top four

Just a 🐝’s Richard from putting Carlton away with their purported ‘premium forwards’ with a misfiring bottom six forward six. As Leigh rightly says ‘two weeks out of the top four in three seasons’. Bring it on.

Wow. I usually find King quite interesting to listen too, but the scenario he paints here is pathetic

We gave Harmsey the “See ya Later” and that is perceived as catastrophic

Agree. One might think that losing Grundy, Harmes & Jordon is balanced out somewhat with the acquisitions of Billings, McAdam & Fullarton. It would seem likely that Billings and McAdam at least will be best 18 if fit. Harmes and JJ were not.

King's the one who should submit to out-of-season testing.

I thought I read on here a few weeks ago he was saying we'd do well?

Don't sleep on the dees and all that.

And now he has us missing the 8?

He's a weathervane suffering a severe bout of recency bias.

You could tell it in his voice that Kingy was already regretting his tip of the Dees to miss the 8.

Silly, silly boy David.

Back to champion data you go.

Well done Leigh and Huddo.

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again headlining another blockbuster at the MCG to kick off the round of footy. MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
