Somewhat unrelated but was at the park with my kids the other day and there was a young hawthorn player training by himself.

It’s incredible what these players can put themselves through without their coaches and teammates to push/guide them.

Is it an open training session?

It’s how it usually is at Casey… behind the fence.

How lean has Ollie Sestan become with a pre-season under his belt?

Cheers I've never ventured to Casey, Gosch's is closer and Caulfield will be a dream.

You’re not missing anything having never ventured to Casey. Watching training at Gosch’s is the best.

Results however will tell the tale of Casey being the major training ground with about 20 advantages over Goschs In our drought breaking 2021 premiership.

The facilities at Casey recently only upgraded are second to none for professional footballers and not just a field made out of open space like Casey.

And the size of the ground and its surface plus dimensions of the MCG which no doubt assists our AFL boys adjust to training and moves on the same size.

About the only advantage of Goschs is location which some Club supporters allow to blinker judgement on Casey for any little event that is played or held let alone the historic playing home ground advantage to both the AFL and VFL teams.

An hours drive into the country was the privilege of our immortal 2021  heroes and could well be again in 2024 if we lift the flag again.

Yes it would be nicer if we could actually gain admission to the ground to watch our heroes on occasions. Mr Picket excluded also unfortunately.

I was speaking from the point of view of fans attending matches and watching training at Casey.

sorry but we don’t have matches at Goschs only at Casey.
Probably best not to say anything but really you just don’t like Casey Fields

Emailed the club today to find out training dates, but alas, the office is closed until Jan 18. The club seems unconcerned about fans wanting to support our team at training. The only message on the website is from last year advising that all training would be at Casey due to works at Gosch's Paddock. I'm keen to take my grandkids to a session before they go back to school.

Good morning Rev, nice to see you are still part of the band. Only advice I can give you is that as soon the AO starts they go to Casey. So after tomorrow all sessions are at Casey. They then return to Goschs. Unless you can make it tomorrow put the idea on hold for 2 weeks.

Thanks OD. I'm still around, but since I retired, I've found more productive things to do than sitting at the keyboard. Says a lot about my commitment to my job! What's AO?

Australian tennis Open. i.e. AO.

Sestan looks to have lost substantial weight. Could he be the smoky?

I reckon he could.

Sestan has some real x factor about him and like Mcvee, who is another Taylor special, his point of different is his foot skills. But like Mcvee needs an AFL tank and body - which he looks like he is working on.

Sestan has the ability to kick those across the body on the 45 kicks that players like Daniel, Miers, Guthrie, Crisp and Nick Daicos are so good at hitting.

With all teams employing zones and and all team defence having players with that skill has become increasingly important to cut through congestion and find free players.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
